What are your thoughts on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Art?

Being the capitalist that I am. I became extremely interested in AI art after seeing the Lensa App make $10M within its first week of release.

The app instructs its users to upload 10-20 photos and the app will generate new avatars for $9.95

I think it's the new tattoo. The best way mundane people can attempt to appear interesting. So obviously, it will be a big hit.

https://static.standard.co.uk/2022/1...traits%202.jpg

https://www.businessofapps.com/data/...ai-statistics/

- Lensa AI has made $16.2 million revenue in 2022 so far, with $8 million happening in December 2022

- Lensa AI had 1.1 million users at the start of December 2022

- The app has been downloaded over 25 million times

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...d/10857825002/

The most interesting thing about that story is (besides the built-in network effect by people sharing their new AI avatars on social media), Lensa did not develop the AI models which its app uses to generate the images. They use Stable Diffusion, an open source AI text-to-image diffusion model capable of generating photo-realistic images given any text input. They will end up making hundreds of millions of millions of dollars from a simple app which is basically a photo upload form.

I've been watching AI art videos exclusively during my breaks of coding the Post Saint WordPress plugin, which serves as a bridge from AI model APIs to WordPress.

So now there are lawsuits coming in from Getty Images and others against Stable Diffusion claiming the tech is stealing from artists.

What do you guys think? Is it stealing? Is AI art a fad? Is it dumb? Is it fascinating? Is it the most interesting tech revolution since digital art itself came into existence or camera phones became omnipresent? Is it here to stay as it will obviously only get better?

AI Art is the new "tube".

avoid it like everybody already told you. :)

Exactly when did anyone tell me anything? Exactly how much thought do you put into your posts and replies, BM? I'll make an AI image to depict my vision of that "phenomenon" at a later time as I've got a prompt or two in mind.

Now how about making AI for porn? put any face - voice - text for adult content or blogs together rather than run into the standard ones that say it is against their programming.

If you figure that out - then you'll do better.

Don't know how many I've talked to who tried to use AI to write blogs only to fail because they can't generate anything usable for a length of time.

So - this is great if you're not in porn - but we are.

Tube Ace 01-22-2023 06:41 PM

Good evening, Mr. Legacy,

As for for its use case in porn, it's only inevitable. Per your PornHub yearly stats review you posted here a few weeks ago, Hentai porn in the #1 porn niche on the world and this AI is going to make it much more realistic. I honestly think it's the most "socially conscience" method of producing pornography.

Apparently, the AI models "filter" adult images out, so those software "features" can be removed given that the software is open source and can be run on your own machines. These require lots of GPU processing power like crypto mining rigs. The big business in this will be selling API access to these custom models to generate images and videos.

Shit's going to get interesting real quick with this.

One of my favorite musical artists, J. Cole recently found a track on YouTube made by a beat producer titled 'J Cole Type Beat'. He then rapped over the track and sent it to the producer and told him he could have it to upload to his social media.

“This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world. It’s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching every day for something to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.

On a day when I couldn’t find much motivation, I was looking for anything to inspire me. Out of curiosity, I typed in ‘J. Cole type beat’ into YouTube. Yours was the first I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this.

This is some shit that would normally stay in the vault, but I don’t want to hold onto the music like that no more. This is for you and whoever else need to hear it. God bless bro and keep doing what you do!”

Instead of J. Cole trying to say "hey bruh, why you tryna use my name to make music or get attention??" He went and did that for this fellow musician. Boss shit.

It will happen same as it happened before with other technology advances - low quality / cheap artist will be out of business , and high quality/celeb artist will worth even more.

When it comes to lawsuit , it wont work - first, they need to prove how their content is used, second, by same logic you could say how it's bad if some artist learned to draw by watching other pictures, and third even if they manage to ban them from using their images for model, they can still use content from artists which don't care for what their content is used.

You could even draw a parallel with porn history - when tubes started to buy content, many producers were not allowing their content to be used on tubes. These days, no more such thing.

Tube Ace 01-23-2023 06:58 AM

^ precisely. Artists are pissed off, as this will be a nail in the coffin for the artists already struggling. Anything this disruptive will have lawyers all over it, and I don't see how it's any kind of copyright infringement.

Thank you Tube Ace for clearing that up and my bad since the only AI's I've been testing are public ones that do not run on my computer. That does open the doors to many options then - and yes will get interesting real quick.

I know several clients and others who struggle it out daily creating such content and AI seems to be the answer - so I'll have a closer look to recommend .. thanks
