Anyone make music on their computer?
What type of software can I get to make music... complete with drums, guitar piano synth etc.
|
I do. Used to have to do it a lot for background music on TV spots. I use Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro.
|
i have a friend who uses FruityLoops and some of the Sonic Foundry software to create breakbeats tracks.
he calls himself Pylot www.mp3.com/pylot fruity loops software http://www.e-officedirect.com/FLStud...sh/frames.html |
i make some hiphop beats with fruity loops 3.1.1 or something
there's also sonic factorys and cakewalk audio's softwares, plus some others i can;t think of off the top of my head. I believe the propellarheads had a software too but the name escapes me atm |
|
I use Fruity Loops and Cubase SX. I do mostly epic trance and something in between industrial metal and house. Cubase lets you play with the track enough to actually make the output you get from Fruity Loops sound natural. I do mix in a plethora of organic stuff in though.

I use reason 2.5 (http://www.propellerheads.se/), very powerfull program. Also tried Native Instruments Reaktor 4.0 (http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?home_us) just some days ago ... seemed kickass but hard to learn. Its like reason in some senses .. you can connect devices in long chains to get the effects you want.
Started on a housetune some days ago with reason, actually with a sample posted here on GFY by fletch I think around a week ago :] Short clip since I just started: http://207.44.152.26/on_dope.ogg .. For you who doesn't know ogg, its a license free format with better quality then mp3 .. (www.vorbis.com). Newest 2.x and 3.x winamp versions support it. |

Elite, full of energy. "Come on" was the best ... cool start and I love the dark voice, made it yourself or found it on some sampleCD? Suits right in anyhow .. nice tune.
"It gets deeper" has pretty cool percussion. Didn't like "Turn it out" very much. |
oh .. a trance tune and something drum n basish I actually finished:

Cubase 4eva muthafucka :winkwink:
|
I make $$$ on my pc ;)
|
Native instruments plug-ins with Sonar or Cubase is what I have done for totally on computer work. I still use my real Kurzweil synths for anything that has to be professionally produced though. I just like the sounds better.
|
I would say to take a look at either Reason or Cubase depending on what you want to do. Personally I like Reason, currenlty using 2.0 I haven't checked out 2.5 yet.

Go with Cakewalk. That's what I use, and there's nothing it can't do.

hyphernate was my favorite of the two, even thought trance isnt my thing, i DID like this one... beach was also good, but I just wasn't feeling the bassline, I would try another sound if possible... otherwise the song was top-notch. I love intelligent d&b peace |
Frooooteeeeeee! :thumbsup
Reason too |
wow reason, this is actually pretty good man!
I liked em both :) I always wanted to make elecronic tracks... guess I should get started heh ;) |
I use Reason and Pro Tools LE. Nothing is more powerful. Find some good plug ins for pro tools and most importantly... Learn how to use all of it well!
The truth is, you could get some basic music making software and make a hit. I started on a 2 inch 8 track 14 years ago and I had remixes released on major artists just from using that and simple effects. There were no decent samplers back then and all looping was done by hand. So that proves you don't need the top of the line stuff to make hot music as long as you know what you are doing with what you have. There's some decent music posted here. I'm impressed. |
Last week I actually had my first set DJing purely on a computer. I've used Final Scratch a bunch of times before, but this time one of the tables totally stopped working, thankfully about half an hour before the party started. Well, I whipped out Traktor on my laptop. I use Traktor a lot but not in public, this was the first time. Let me tell you, Traktor rocks. Everything went smooth and stress free. If not for the haters who say if you don't spin the vinyl you aren't a DJ I'd totally switch to Traktor. I am definetly going to use it more now.
