Best script to run a freehost?

What script for running a freehost do webmasters like the best? I'm looking for something which will allow people to create their own account and upload from either ftp or inside their browser and which will put the freehost banner on the top of each page and maybe the bottom as well. Oh yeah, and I want something where whoever coded it will support it in a moderately friendly, responsive, and helpful well.

Hi,

Contact isprime, they host many many freehosts, and you get the freesoftware free when you choose them.

Is the software available on its own? I am happy with my current hosting.

That last sentence eliminated all the free hosting scripts on the market :)

Swift Communications also offers a free host solution... however it is in house only.

you might try the home free script... its pretty good for non custom job, although it gets riddled with cheaters quickly.

i think you are a couple of years late opening a free host

Homefree from www.solutionscripts.com is like the "standard" free hosting script. Standard doesn't always mean best however :)

Okay, say I don't object to bizarre additional fees, techs who make passes at me, incoherent answers to support questions, and slow response time . . . but the basic script is pretty good.

XPanel is quite good (no not cPanel) and very cheap. We actually bought one of the licenses for a future freehost.

If you have to ask these kind of questions then you shouldn't
even be thinking of starting a freehost. It's like starting a car
workshop and asking for advice on how to change oil.....come
on snap out of it and continue to build galleries or something.

A better analogy would probably be starting a car workshop and sending out a call to hire the best instructor to teach classes at my school. :winkwink:

Thanks! The price is certainly right. I need to check one of the specs on our server, but that look possible.

Anyone have an opinion on Homefree vs XPanel or any other scripts for hosting? Homefree site has broken links in some places which always worries me for something where being meticulous is important.

Thanks, Amelia

We have a proprietary script, lots of features other scripts dont have. Contact me if interested.

Ummmm...no it really isn't. Do you seriously thing anyone who has written a script will teach you how to run a successful and cheaterless free host with no CP and beast shit on it and hold your hand for the first few months (until you can no longer afford the hosting bills)?

Still, you'll find out very quickly why being green and running a freehost is a bad combination. Very quickly.

I also use homefree from http://www.solutionscripts.com. I had to hack it up to allow FTP, subdomains and free domain hosting but it works well.

The person that wrote it (Tim Watson) has some really large forums dating back for years with a ton of support. Most of the time they can answer almost any question you have. They do however have real support but usually takes several days to get an answer back.

You might not be familiar with this phenomenon, but there is this type of professional called a programmer. Sometimes programmers do custom work where they make scripts function for one client and sometimes they sell a program where a number of different clients can give them this thing called money in return for the use of their script.

There is this other type of professional called a webmaster. Some webmasters are also programmers and some are not. Many webmasters are interested in who likes which scripts and which programmers best. A webmaster board can be a good place to discuss things of interest to webmasters.
