sherie 05-20-2003 08:00 AM

I keep forgetting to watch it. They took 4ever to provide new episodes so I got sick of waiting....are far into the new season is it?

xerox 05-20-2003 08:01 AM

I havent seen any of the new episodes, when I left my elite job at the cable company they took my Showtime, so I got the first and second season on DVD

Herb Kornfield 05-20-2003 08:12 AM

Absolutely the best show out there today, My wife got me hooked on watching it. Fucking funny as hell

sherie 05-20-2003 08:14 AM

A person needs to have Showtime!

BritishTwinks 05-20-2003 09:33 AM

The original (British) version is better.

I'd pay any price for one 30 second spot on that show for our gay sites. Can you imagine the number you could pull!

brits always seem to do things better ;)
especially when it comes to acting.

the brit series was better cuz it ended before it became a soap opera.

while the guys look better on the american version.... a soap opera is a soap opera is a soap opera.... even if it is about gay people. :(

It also had more reality. It was edgy and unpredictable. I've only seen one episode of the American version and while it was interesting, it didn't keep my attention in quite the sae way.

traffictrader 05-20-2003 10:58 AM

as far as american TV goes, nothing can beat six feet under, it's the best written/acted/directed show on tv right now

Sarah_Jayne 05-20-2003 10:59 AM

the original UK show was one of the most groundbreaking in ages over here. I saw season one of the US series and it wasn't as good and bit strange because it was more or less the same basic plot until they fleshed it out a bit to fit the increased number of episodes.

Only thing I will say is that the Stuart character in the UK show owns that character. He was amazing.

BritishTwinks 05-20-2003 11:00 AM

I usually prefer British television, but The West Wing is still my favourite program - and you can't get much more American than that!

Dianna Vesta 05-20-2003 11:03 AM

There was a show on Showtime... Amsteads something or another. I can't remember it exactly.

Anyhow, it was show about an apt complex owned by a transgender, MTF - the tenants were bi, straight, gay. That show really could of taken off if it has creative writers like they do on Queer as Folk.

Tipsy 05-20-2003 11:06 AM

The British version was AMAZING. The us version was worth watching but far too 'nice'. Amazes me that most US soaps and dramas have an aversion to normal looking people.

HairToStay 05-20-2003 12:46 PM

This season is the worst. The characters are too predictable and you can say the lines before they even say them.

The first season was great, and season 2 didn't have a great ending (no "OHMYGOD") but it was interesting.

Between Brian's bad hair cut (he's a STUD???), the boi hooker with AIDS (gee, never saw that one coming), Ted's demise and the lack of hot sex ... it's boring.

Showtime keeps spamming (err, advertising) a new show about a sexually-confused guy in the Army, that one looks good. The other one about the 2 lesbians will probably have a very large str8 male audience

archer 05-20-2003 12:56 PM

edgy is definately the word for the brit version...

the opening rimming scene is great(between two straight actors no less)

and with the twink(what was his name again?) being only 15 made the show that much more edgy....

what is the age of consent in england, anyways?

Marcus 05-20-2003 01:03 PM

I saw that show once and hated it.

It was an episode where they went bowling and it was gay vs. straight teams and they had some gum chewing old lady who was getting on my nerves and one of the gay guys was so queeny he couldn't throw the ball. I was like "no one fucking acts like that, so helpless you can't even throw a ball".
It was unwatchable, just really bad acting.

I loved kids in the hall, and I like sex and the city and will and grace, but I dont get the appeal of queer as folk.

Sarah_Jayne 05-20-2003 01:38 PM

gosh do I miss Kids In The Hall

it is not, sir.
It only has better music (OK, it HAS music), but stories that takes 1 hour in american version are compacted in 20 minutes in UK version

It's 16 now. I think it was still 18 when Queer as Folk was made though.

Rocky 05-20-2003 03:36 PM

Queer As Folk, the American version is actually shot in Toronto, Canada and has many Canadian actors in the show

the original UK version is much better

Zoe_Zoebaboe 05-20-2003 03:45 PM

The show rocks. The British and the American version. 'nuff said.

AngelAllgood 05-20-2003 08:36 PM

yeah its a good show and those dudes are HOT

which was part of the huge shocking nature of the show - especially as it came out right at the time when age of consent was being hotly debated in the House of Lords.

Thing is that beyond the shocking nature it was just plain good.

It is weird to watch the little differences in the shows to see what they had to change for it to make sense to an American audience. Like the one character being a huge Dr. Who fan became a comic fan.

SexyD 05-21-2003 02:30 AM

Excellent show that shouldn't be compared to the English one - they're totally different.
Prefer the English thoug - short and to the point
