Tylenol, Advil and Booze; Don't do it
I thought this important enough to create a new thread. It came up in a hangover cures thread that more than one person suggested Tylenol as a hangover cure.
Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Advil ( ibuprofen) taken with alcohol can cause permanent, irreversable liver damage and can kill you. Never mix them. Here is one of many links http://dm.olemiss.edu/archives/97/97...N2alcohol.HTML "as a general rule, one should avoid taking Tylenol or an ibuprofen such as Advil for six hours, depending on whether the alcohol was taken on an empty stomach and the amount of alcohol consumed. **At the FDA panel hearings on acetaminophen, an expert testifying for the makers of Advil said that individuals who drink more than two alcoholic beverages a day should not take more than two grams of acetaminophen a day. The makers of Tylenol pointed out that ibuprofen can cause gastrointestinal bleeding in heavy drinkers. " |

tylenol and booze is fine.
most pills with booze is fine. pills are fun. :glugglug |
Very true... I did that for years to prevent hangovers... after a night of drinking I'd always guzzle like a gallon of water and take two tylenol or advil and wake up the next day feeling pretty good. After many years of doing that I figured I was screwed. Actually had a physical recently and found that my liver functions perfectly... dodged a bullet there!

Just out of curiosity, what percentage of people who drink and take advil or aspirin for their hangovers end up with severe liver damage?
