PornHub, xHamster, XVideos, XNXX Tukif to be shut down in France?

Major porn websites PornHub, xHamster, XVideos, XNXX and Tukif could soon be blocked by internet providers nationwide after failing to introduce age verification systems that prevent minors from accessing their explicit content.

On March 8 the French audiovisual and digital communication regulator Arcom took the case to the Judicial Court of Paris on the basis that the five websites had failed to comply with legal obligations despite receiving an injunction in December. Arcom has also contacted YouPorn and RedTube, which could face similar action.

“The formal notices issued by the regulator have not been acted upon to date,” said Arcom in a published statement. “If the courts, in the long term, so decide, the websites of the publishers will no longer be accessible from French territory.”

xhamster was blocked in germany a few weeks ago and these blocks contain the national url (de.xhamster.com or something like this).
You know what xhamster did 1 day after? They just changed it to deu.xhamster - case solved and the whole banning procedure need to start again. They completely show how broken this way of blocking is.

So France (or other europe countries) will end up with the same problem. It's when people without any knowlage in politics try to do some regulations. I mean there are 1 tribazillion free adult websites outthere and more coming up every day. To ban only 1 URL is a long complicated procedure just cause of law things and it take 1 second to move around.

So no need to spread panic - every france wanker will just continue like before. It's just an other way to burn tax money.

Maybe NordVPN make some deal with the gouverments - theire user numbers rising hard with all this shit in the world and so long there is only 1 country on this planet allowing a website - every tech noob can have access to it easy.

In France the law has this problem:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rider_(legislation)

So if they want to counterattack, there is this weak point for that...
The problem is that people tend to overestimate the weight of the adult industry lobby...
While the feminist movement is supported by the political establishment (but not strong in people's minds)

The adult industry lobby is every horny man who want wank his ding dong on pc/phone - it's even so big that u can ban what u want the mass just don't care. The result in banning big plattforms (which dont work, but just lets say) is that more shady sites without any intern regulations and prevention (like childporn and so on) are getting the traffic. Its not like the traffic disappear.

Same in thailand :) They have wildcard dns, you can type in whatever you want as long as it isn't www and it works.

That is very naive. State level technology could wipe out our business. At the moment they are fighting the Russians, you think a bunch of dinky porn sites can survive a full on government shock and awe campaign, especially if the EU decides to take it on.
This reminds me of back in the day when people on this board and the many others that existed back then boldly declared that porn was recession proof. Oops.
A VPN will be barely a speed bump. More like a pot hole to a concerted international effort which seems to be gaining steam.
It is time for us to clean up our own house and realize what is upsetting otherwise pretty tolerant people so badly.
Free porn could kill the biz. End of.

Porn IS "recession- proof". Maybe not for you but for the vast majority of us still in business after many, many economic downturns.

As for this move by France? Cest la vie.

I don't know how long you have been in this biz, but it will never recover from what it was. There are a lot of reasons for that from thieving tube sites, to dialers, to pre checked cross sales. And the recession did not help. As far as the past twenty years, I have been around a fair bit longer than that, ridden many, many economic downturns and am still doing very well, thank you very much. But the days of waking up to ten thousand dollars by 9 am are in the rear view. Maybe not for you, but for me for sure.
As for France? It is the tip of the iceberg. Just be aware and try and make sure you are EU proof.

I got into this biz after the golden era, the good ol' days, the legendary make it rain days. So my perspective is not old school (enough). This makes me very happy actually as I do not constantly lament the days of wine and roses.

You still being here, after all these years, proves porn is recession proof. :)

In theory there is a a chance how they will block only sites with big traffic and wont bother with small ones at all, same as EU is enforcing GDPR mostly on big companies.

It's a win-win! The government can say that they blocked this very bad porn site filled with filth and on the other end it still does works. :)

The Sears catalogue was always reliable and you didn't have to return it.

Sorry but you answer sounds like BS.
First i say, they could sue, you answer masturbation... 🙄
Then you say it is "men" who go there.
To that i say that to the least, you don't know how to communicate... And it is wrong to some extent.
It is the patriarchy, isn't it ??
Then your main BS argument: it doesn't need to be legal...
You mean like drug...?
It looks like you are defending this law with very weak arguments for the opposite side...

I am sure it annoys Kim Junk Feminist, that they could assimilate vanilla porn with pedophilia... (It's irony)
It is not like they already didn't care more about communication and influence than well being and freedom for the population...

The problem is it might cost 5 million dollars to bring a solution to the table that doesn't even work

These should be banned in every country

If you referring to age check solution , there is already some available for free.

mrpornlive 04-14-2022 12:27 AM

Age check is asked when you arrive on Home page from French IP, what is the issue ? I mean, what did they do wrong and how is the age check system working in other countries ?

Last time when i was doing check with french ip , only pornhub was doing some sort of check, but it was just question without any concrete method of verification .

What method do they use for other countries ?

There are some things coming in the future and not looking so good.
At least for Germany, but maybe EU as well.
You have to translate those articles here to get an idea.

https://netzpolitik.org/2022/wegen-p...l-ueberwachen/
https://www.heise.de/news/KI-Werkzeu...s-6666699.html

They are using an AI tool to scrape the web for porn and hate-speech and what not.
The tool is already in use. And they would like to pass it to other european countries,
so it´s not just Germany who wants to wipe porn from the web.

Looks like their goal is to gather as many violations as possible and pass it to the authorities and courts in case
site owners don´t start following the laws, like making their sites soft and implementing age verification systems etc...
I´m wondering what they do if site owners don´t add imprints / contact options on their sites.
Probably requesting de-indexing, and as always, Google is de-indexing whatever the German government wants.

I spoke to an adult webmaster collegue who is in the biz since the 90´s and he predicts that,
at least for Germany, adult content, text, images and video content, will be blocked in Germany in the coming years.
And search engines will just comply with any upcoming laws about this.
Don´t know if this will be reality, but it goes in that direction........

For sure, people should never use hosting in Germany and for sure
never ever should register domains with German registrars!
Mojo is doing that... How can you use a German domain registrar for your clients?? :warning

We'll see after the elections how this evolves... for now the focus is not there... but it might come back soon.
