What, in your opinion, is the advice in that quote? How does contemplating infinity provide somebody with hope? I'm genuinely curious.

A few years ago I took a leadership class. We learned that people make an impression of you in the first five to ten seconds. A simple thing like putting a smile on your face and putting some effort into saying "Hello" when you first meet someone goes a long way.

Where's the advice ? ?

The advice is to not just gaze out at what you'll never understand, but to contemplate such things and realize that all of us are just meaningless specks of dust in the grand scheme of things.

That it's really easy to forget, that we're just monkeys with clothes. If you took all of life on Earth and you compressed it into one 24-hour day, anatomically modern man shows up at four seconds before midnight, cave paintings at one second before midnight. We've been playing at civilization for a fraction of a second... Nothing is REALLY all that important... :2 cents:

Weird notion of advice . . . it's like advising someone to kill himself.

My advice is to say "Va fenculo" to cretins
