ok this is a thread to list the small things in life that make you feel good. No posting about having sex with strippers, helicopter skiing, getting a hole in one, etc - SMALL things.


here's mine, and it's what made me think of posting this.


scratching my nuts. feels great and doesn't cost a dime.

a really good crap also.

smell of gasoline.

when you're out of smokes and you're having a fit so u rip the house apart and you find one cigarette that rolled under something.

you know whats even better?

taking a piss after a long car ride

waking up early and going back to bed knowing you have a couple more hours (not that it applies often to me)

Taking a dump on a rainy sunday afternoon, alone in the house, and a good bike magazine to read in - that "me time"

or giving my mother a presant - that makes me feel good to

taking a piss OUTDOORS after a long car ride

An A&W papa burger and fries, and a starbucks Venti americano
from the gas station/minimart/A&W/starbucks on Denny way and Aurora in Seattle.

Haven't been there in years, but the memory is enough to make

Eating a really good meal (whether out or home cooked)

the reading a good magazine article - love that, i haven't read a book since high school, don't have the patience, but a good magazine article is great, when you hope there are a couple more pages still to go.

also the other side of the pillow, that's a great example of one of life's little pleasures.

also like vacuuming. and i've heard other people who enjoy vacumming. weird.

yess, i hate when the side my head is on gets hot. flip that bitch over and its nice n' fresh n' "chilled". fuckin a.

i sleep with about 4 pillows so i rotate... ive mastered this skill in my sleep also

Nope, I like the smell of gasoline, WD40, plaster, wood dust, stain/varnish, hot solder, and anything else that 'says' workshop. Reminds me of my childhood and the hours I spent in the basement with my Dad building things and just playing while he worked.

Watching a big thunderstorm roll in

sitting outside with a cold beer/mixed drink in the middle of the night and looking at the stars

Laying outside and watching the lightning during a lightning storm

taking my dogs for a walk

"mark out" moments when watching wrestling

Hee...me too, except it's got to be black powder or the cordite smell after you just fired a bigass handgun...reminds me of my childhood hanging out in my dad's gunsmith shop.

Other stuff:

Settling in for a good movie that I love, know every line of, and still get a kick out of watching.

Singing along with the radio on a long car trip.

The "other side of the pillow" thing is great, I agree...nice and cool and comfy.

Vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup on it.

Looking around after my house is cleaned, dishes washed, everything...feeling a little tired but satisfied that it's looking really nice.

Waking up to my cat purring at me and patting my face gently with her paw to get me to wake up and pet her...it's so sweet I can't stay mad at her for waking me up.

a very long hot bubble bath with some candles instead of the overhead light and something nice to sip on while listening to some soft music.....

waking early to a hard rain hitting the rooftop then falling back to sleep...

watching my hubby and baby smile at eachother while playing...

knowing my house is spotless so not having to worry about doing something or if friends are coming over later....(im a clean freak)...

taking a walk on a breezy summer day....

the list goes on and on and on....

lifes simplest pleasures are the greatest!!!:)

Besides a few already mention, simple pleasures:

Standing at grocery checkout lane with three items and the person before me says go ahead.

Stuck in a traffic-jam and a good song comes on the radio.

And most of all seeing the change of seasons.

- sitting on a terrasse on a nice day with my girlfriend
- krispy kreme doughnuts
- beaver tails
- walking alone late on a nice night, music blasting in my headphones and singing aloud, making up the words i don't know

Listening to the ocean from my sundeck in the morning.
Being out on a catamaran on the ocean at sunset.
And catching a perfect barrel rolling wave.

Wow I must say I'm surprised at how many people rate taking a good shit as one of the thrills in life. It's odd somehow, although I share the feeling..

OK, the <B>number 1</B> little pleasure in life for me is the "flashback smell". Sometimes I'll just be out driving or walking or whatever and I'll catch an old familiar smell that gives me a flashback to something nice in my past. It could be anything from certain plants to a perfume, but some of them give me a real rush and make me very nostalgic even when I am not 100% sure what memory the smell is associated with; I just know it feels good.

Others:

Hearing a great song I'd forgotten about.

When my cat does something crazy or cute.

A really wild dream. I don't mean sex dreams, just off-the-wall dreams.
