I assume *rent* wasn't one of the things listed in that poll. I just moved out of that area... paying $1650 a month for a 1 bedroom slumlord-owned apartment isn't the way to go.

Jesus Christ man! Out here in Walnut Creek you could have had TWO bedrooms in a shitty complex for $1650.

Seriously though, $1650 is lunacy even for SF. My friend who is a waitress at Absinthe lives in a nice 1br just above Hayes street.. nice location.. for $1000/mo. Moved in just last year.
