wtf, this sucks

I have some shit on my computer where it's fucking me up when i visit a bunch of popular sites.. news.com ..amazon.com and a whole shitload of other sites. My computer loads pages slow, half broken images.. etc. There are several other computers on this network that don't have this problem. So wtf kinda bs spyware or something is messing with my computer? Any ideas?

my roomate had the same problem, he tried reformatting but it wouldnt let him, he tried re-installing windows it wouldnt let him.

i finally had to hook the drive up to another system and low level format it to get rid of whatever it was causing problems. i dont know if its the same thing.. but it was basically doing the same ting you just described

try checking your hosts file .. it may have been changed by something like kazaa lite...

%windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

That's what I thought it originally was because I think this started happening after I installed Kazaa Lite, but the hosts file is clean.

It wouldn't let him format? Not even when he booted from a floppy? (which would be rather odd, honestly)

I had the same problem until I downloaded this free application called Adaware. http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

I run it about once a month and have not had a problem since.

You can thank me later :1orglaugh

I've known of Adaware but haven't run it on this computer. Just downloaded it and gave it a run. Found some data-mining cookies but didn't seem to have fixed the problem. :(
