I'm not convinved it's a virus/spyware because I always get a connection, even when I open a command prompt for a raw telnet to any random .biz domain. Maybe the .biz overseers send all unresolved requests to a default place.

Or, maybe the spyware is sophisticated enough to monitor all outgoing resolution requests and return bogus answers.
