WTF is Google doing?

Can anyone make sense of this mess? For those who follow the dances are you as stumped as me? Everything is all over the place, anybody have any ideas when it might cool down?

EscortBiz 05-16-2003 12:37 PM

its going to be nasty this update they did some crazy shit

The Click 05-16-2003 12:38 PM

I know Im scared. :helpme

Jon 05-16-2003 12:39 PM

You'll never figure it out, so just let it go. Be happy with what they send you, if it's not as much as you'd like, re-optimize, and pray for a better rain season during the next dance.

Those do not sound like great words from a SEO!

Jon 05-16-2003 12:43 PM

Because I think it's useless for people to sit around talking about what they did here and there, and then the praying starts.. ehh it's just a silly monthly ritual that webmasters have been doing lately. You have zero control over it, so why not just let it go, and if you need to re-optimize, do so. You know... there are other engines in the world, and some with far better traffic than google too... Sure it may not come in by the billions, but are you after quality or quantity?

:thumbsup

WiredGuy 05-16-2003 01:14 PM

I talk to Cleo to see how each update will do; this time, my future is not looking so good. But as NiteChatDotTV said, there's no point in hoping and praying, you can't control it. So work with the dance, if this update doesn't work out for you, re-optimize and wait. I swear the google algorithm guys get their jollies from making webmasters praying to them for a good update. I say screw them, the deep crawls don't do much for me, it's all about playing the freshbot game :-)

Yep agreed WiredGuy.. Freshbot is where it's at.

I have to agree with you on this one, checking the google dance non stop is a waste of time. I'd rather lay my nuts in rosebushes thatn watch that awful dance take place. Google is in a situation where it's prone to lose some of market and it shows. They're getting desperate to eliminate every bit of spam and they're taking loads of legit sites with them.

Well, being spammed by every search engine spammer on the face of the planet is going to provoke a response sooner or later isn't it?

Should they just give up like all the others and sell the result pages?

Keep praying buddy. Did you spread the magic pixy dust over your url, make sure you do that, it helps Googlebot to dance in your favour. Or you could do what I do (see my customized title), it makes Googlebot really happy :-)

Googlebot has been my bitch for the past 18 months. Like I said - only people who bump me down are using keyword clustering w/cloaking. But for some reason their new listings usually only last a few days :)

I just checked google-dance, and ww2 and ww3 have one of my keywords up to #9 from #20. Looks good for me so far. Wonder how the rest of my keywords are doing that I am in the top 30 for.

Fine with me, I sleep with googlebot for nothing more than the deep crawls but freshbot is my bitch :)

I haven't seen anything too unexpected. Some spam-filled websites got bumped. If you optimize correctly you won't get bumped. Don't spam, and follow the guidelines. There are still many tricks out there that work like magic. :2 cents:

ullimike 05-18-2003 06:40 PM

Hey all...we have great traffic...and no dancing! (except for maybe a little ass shake here and there) Let's talk.
