RIP - June Carter Cash

http://apnews1.iwon.com//article/200...=home&SEC=news

June Carter Cash, the wife of country music legend Johnny Cash died today at 73.

Truly a sad day for country music..

She wrote one of Johnny's greatest songs (and one of my personal favorite songs) of all time "Ring Of Fire"

With June gone, I wonder how much longer Johnny will live

The readers of this board know I'm a closet country music fan (mainly the "old school" stuff)

RIP in June Carter Cash

I Fell Into A Burning Ring Of Fire
I Went Down, Down, Down
And The Flames Went Higher

And It Burns, Burns, Burns
The Ring Of Fire
The Ring Of Fire

he is a music legend

he goes beyond classification...it's mainly country, but he also havs some dark, broody "goth" type stuff, some punkish type stuff and even some good old fashioned rowdy drunken type songs...

I've seen him referred to as "punk country", which is a pertty good description...

get thee to a music store, amazon.com or your favorite p2p software and grab some Johnny Cash stuff, especially Ring Of Fire, Ballad Of Ira Hayes, Delia's Gone, 13 (written by Glen Danzig), Sunday Morning Coming Down", Ghost Riders IOn The Sky, Highwayman, and/or I Still Miss Someone...or even his latest, a cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" which I think is better than the original..the video is just haunting.....

Oh no! That *is* sad. I think you're right, Johnny is probably not going to be far behind her. :(

It is a shame she's gone. She was a cool lady, and a genuine lady, which sadly, are rare to find these days.

Sad day in country music :(

Why is it sad? She lived a long life, obviously achieved quite a bit... am I the only one who doesn't see that as "a shame" or "sad"?
I mean, if she'd been 30, or had lived a very unhappy life, it would've been sad, but this just seems like the conclusion of a generally good life.

I think it's more of a shock just because her husband has been sick for so long and she was kind of his driving force...everyone was expecting him to go first.

man it isn't a quote, it's a whole fucking song.....And yes, it's an old song but still it's the principle...I've had the song for awhile on my computer because I think it's funny...especially with the dialogue in between verses where they have some white dude trying to sound black and then the gunshots being fired cause he doesn't want to get on the boat back to africa.......

I was daring you to bet me cause that was gonna be some easy money....
