Looking to buy a Gopro any advice or comments?

I've been moving towards smaller equipment for practicality reasons.
But a lot of these smaller kits shoot and feel like a kid's toy. Sure
they can give you 4k video and 20mp but the quality of the images
always seem like I'm shooting with a plexiglass lens.

Right now I'm looking at the various Gopros and I'm curious to read
some opinions.

Is that pic on your avatar a Girl Named Aaron?

ruff 04-15-2021 06:29 AM

I use YI cameras. Cheap, but good.

Cheap I like! All I'm finding are security cameras.
So do you have a link to them?

celandina 04-15-2021 06:43 AM

Can go pro or anything cheap record a decent sound?

I wanted to buy something not really expensive with good pic quality and sound for my fishing trips. Had chosen GoPro hero 4. You can get used one for pretty low cost and it has really good sound as HD quality. With black edition you can also film in 4k 30fps. As I heard - next few models are much worse than 4th.

CurrentlySober 04-15-2021 08:58 AM

Just go to a beach or a river or somewhere that people are using them. Then just grab one and run away. That's my advice...

baodb 04-15-2021 09:14 AM

There are a couple of good go pro alternatives, yi was mentioned. fimi isn't too bad either. Dirt cheap and still not worse than go pro is seabird 4k, but I think it was discontinued.

H4Y-Tim 04-15-2021 09:26 AM

You have to use photoshop to enhance GoPro pics and that's a bummer. There are many cheap alternatives for GoPro but it is still a very robust adventure camera.

Don't I was testing some modified cod pots as a alternative way of catching dover sole, both traps were pinched with go pros!!

Brit in Cambodia 04-15-2021 10:37 AM

Audio is the big drawback with go pros especially with waterproof housing on.

I just checked ou the XIAOMI SEABIRD 4K Action Camera and
it's basically a webcam with a size of 6.05 x 4.22 x 2.97cm.
Seems like most of the lower end action cameras are not any
better.

The Gopro still seems like my best choice because I can
do actual photography with it. Albeit, I doubt that I'll
use it for anything more than porn or playing sports.

Ahh sorry to hear that mate - Pretty shitty for sure (No Pun).

That's why I always advise people to steal from others, to their faces. That way they have a fighting chance of chasing after you and getting the camera back. I mean, fairs fair n all that...

Try searching Amazon for yi 4k camera or yi action camera. That's where I bought mine a couple of years ago and it's pretty nice for the price.

See if this link works

fuzebox 04-15-2021 05:31 PM

I have a Gopro Max... The 360 tech that erases the selfie stick is pretty cool for sports. It can also shoot traditional 4k.

I probably wouldn't use it for photography.

Yes, the screen size is small with all action cameras. The advantage of the seabird is the quality of video is decent enough, it has all the features you need (eis, ldc, etc.) and it is just dirt cheap. It won't be better than a go pro but it can do the same stuff at a fraction of the price. Form factor is the same for all action cams, if you don't like it maybe a small mirrorless (yi m1) is better suited?

I had the Canon EOS M50 for 2 weeks and I loathed it!

Sure enough it was 24mp but its photos were as if you
were shooting behind your car's windshield or with a
plexiglass lens. Plus I couldn't use my old Canon
lenses without an adapter and that cleared up the
problem but the camera was then unbalanced and it
was difficult to "just point and click."

Plus the M50's storage was the shit of the shit and
even the best SD card available was sucking crap

Actually it's gotten to the point that I'm even thinking
about just buying a damn good phone for photos and
video.

:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:

No more lights, no more editing and no more thinking.
Just point, shoot and fuck.

AmeliaG 04-16-2021 11:22 AM

I bought a couple of GoPros and I find it hard to see the controls and the phone app disconnects often. I mean, they take nice shots in full sun, but, if you are used to professional equipment, they seem too small to use easily and the way the standard in-camera color LUT works makes everything a bit less sharp at max size.

I guess I thought I'd have more sun-drenched adventures, based on the advertising :1orglaugh

celandina 04-17-2021 07:04 AM

Can somebody PLEASE chime in who knows anything about inexpensive simple use cameras able to shoot INTERIORS AT NIGHT with simple or existing indoor lighting and decent sound to record the fucking moaning and "pussy slapping" ?

To shoot outside and shooting sun drenched adventures post in the National Geographic forum :2 cents:

A few years old A7sii will shoot in the dark and is relatively inexpensive at this point, but at the cost of a horrible rolling shutter. Audio on all these cameras is garbage and the best bet is a small Zoom recorder and off shotgun mic for audio. The in camera audio is pretty much good for syncing sound and that's about it.

Determine how your computer accepts any camera's video signal, especially the camera you are looking at, as well as the software you use for Camming.

e.g. I use OBS for Chaturbate, Stripchat, CAM4 and soon a couple of others.

Last night, a Broadcaster's video froze, with a graphic that said "EOS webcam utility". SONY cameras with video outputs are popular. But bigger and bulkier, and $500-$700+ more expensive than Logitech clamp-ons.

Also your computer OS's offline software for recording, and for editing.

It's not Windows vs Mac, it's about the software that exists to do what you need to do. Although I did get a second MacBook last week, so I could do two Cam shows at the same time, but not using a signal splitter. I make my Chaturbate shows less explicit because of the Pirate site that records CB shows, and has 3489373 videos (145391 Pages).

I'm not a fan of cam shows and I'm not creating for them.

My computer's stats:

Ryzen 9 5950X
32G DDR4-3200
RTX2080TI
1TB Samsung EVO
Ubuntu

Piracy sucks and everything, but why would you make yourself less able to make money, just because someone else might also be unfairly making money off of what you do? There are a lot of pirate sites, but a cam show is direct and immediate and personal and people are tipping for that interaction with you, not just because they got to see some stuff. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Old music video from the 80ties? The sound may be OK but the image sucks. Are you sure?:2 cents:
