Do you own a Harley?

I know nothing about HD and need some advice.

I'm in the market for a HD and am not sure what to go with. I don't want a circus show bike, I want something I could cruz for a few hours without hurting too much and handling is a plus.

Any suggestions?

Softail or Dyna Glide are pretty much the standard ('03 harleys)

Both are cruiser bike (70-75 HP)

Their new V-Rod (VRSC) sounds like a harley only if you change the pipes... but has good handling and is pretty fast (115 HP)

All the fun with harley bikes is the modifications you can do on them... The after-market of Harley Davidson is really big. It's half the fun of having a Harley.

If you don't plan to modify the bike, stick to a V-Rod or buy a cheaper Honda, Kawasaki, etc... there's no reason to own a harley if you don't personalize it, love it, be proud of it, yada yada IMHO. Otherwise it's like driving a Porshe in Alaska.

See... this blue bike is a modified harley. Looks good, sounds good, feels good:

Sheldon Souray's (Montreal Canadian Defense Man) new chopper (110k+ CAD)

Anyway, I honestly think Harley-Davidson are overated. They were the first to build motorcycles 100 years ago, but except for their new V-Rod, they are expensive for what they offer (except for the name, fame & sound).

I miss my Harley... :(

but if you're looking for hours and hours of smooth riding, don't get a Softail... the vibration will kill you. Softail is not for the weak.
