Any 'Gimpers' on here?
Just tried GIMP for the first time ever for creating some YouTube thumbnails. Nothing complicated - Just an existing pic from the video along with some bold white text with a black border.
I'm actually surprised at just how similar it is to Photoshop... I have an OG PS5 CS on my iMac, but wanted something for the PC to save swapping between machines. Wish I'd tried it sooner tbh... Coming from photoshop, its just all so familiar to me... Few differences of course, but that's only to be expected and no 'learning curve' at all really... Very impressed. Anyone else using it, or, like me, are you still stuck in your ways with photoshop? |
Yes, I use it a few times a year to do simple stuff like remove backgrounds etc.

I use https://skylum.com/luminar now

Yup, was too cheap to get PS or Affinity when I started and now that I could pay for it I feel like I am too invested with GIMP and know how to do everything I need to do there.
|
I use it all the time, mostly for simple cropping work.

Yes, have used Linux for 23 years so GIMP has been the only image editor I have ever used in adult.

try photopea.com
That kid did a great job, check his reddit amas, he's a genius |
I use GIMP when I want to use GMIC effects, or I'm on a system without Photoshop.
For ultra simple tasks like cropping, basic sharpening, levels and watermarking, I use IrfanView since it loads instantly. |
I've installed it on my linux boxes, impressed with how powerful it is now. Still using photoshop though
