CCbill visa charges

ouch, just received the email from ccbill, as of April 17th 2021, visa are charging 500 a year similar to the mastercard charges. Wondering how many people will be declining the use of visa, and are other billing companies doing the same?

Whoīs with ccbill, is this going to effect you? Whatīs your thoughts regarding your billing system?

trevesty 03-04-2021 05:39 AM

If it's a VISA rule, then every provider will do it. Some may "eat" the charge.

$500 / yr is also peanuts. I assume if that stings, you have bigger problems. :)

rastan 03-04-2021 10:11 AM

Yeah, its not surprising as we had the same info from Epoch recently.

It's not a huge amount, but frustrating that it's $500 per biller, per card.
Ive only got one business, so why dont visa/mc bill me directly, rather than me having to pay 4x$500 (Visa + MC x 2 billers)

Visa = 80% of the charges. That would be suicide. and $500 a year is a $1.30 a day...If that's going to hurt you well you need to get a job instead of a business.

The Porn Nerd 03-04-2021 11:25 AM

I don't know wtf you people are talking about. CCBill (and Epoch) have been taking out Visa and MC $500 charges ($1000 total) for years now, no?

Yep. for a very very long time.

I use three billers and its worth every dime.

mechanicvirus 03-04-2021 12:15 PM

If this is nothing new why is it being sold as such?

Yes, what year is this? $1000 per year per biller/MID has been standard for ages.

AmeliaG 03-04-2021 01:20 PM

Exactly what Porn Nerd and ZENRA said. Isn't this business as usual?

Oh and, no, you can't do without Visa. I tried it for about two days back in 2003ish when I jumped from Globill to CCBill and it was a bloodbath. Totally unequivocal.

I have been with them for years this notice is nothing new and just the small cost of doing business.

exactly this...

I use ccbill only for my sales from my blog, panties, so this is a huge hit. My website is with Modelcentro, this I can take.

itīs new, because it was only Mastercard charging a yearly rate and this email was only sent to me today, and as said above to rastan, for me, using ccbill only for my dvd and panty sales, well, it is a huge blow, if itīs not the bank charging me for British banking as I live in Spain, or the postal services, now charging much more for sending parcels and cards in the post, now ccbill want to whack a further cost from visa...

I suppose for those not bothered, maybe when the price of everything goes up, by a few pence because the visa yearly cost, you wonīt mind. I thought VISA made enough, but there you go. CCbill donīt only deal with adult :2 cents:

Perhaps this Visa charge is new to you because you are selling physical goods (panties & DVDs)? Whereas most of us are selling digital subscriptions, as you do via ModelCentro.

I would suggest looking for another biller who handles physical goods in Adult. Perhaps one that handles sex toys? Tho I imagine if Visa is sending out these notices now then it will affect every Biller.

bean-aid 03-04-2021 09:54 PM

I was going to ask when did Visa STOP charging for CCbill clients but thought I got dementia like Joe Biden and waited to see other comments for vindication.

That being said... there is some merit to only having to pay visa fee 1 time per year and MC fee 1 time per year per EIN number. It should not matter if you have multiple MIDS under the same EIN... it is ONE fee per EIN from VISA. Anyone that says otherwise has been lying for over 20 years now.

bean-aid 03-04-2021 10:31 PM

weird... why is there talk about mandatory visa fee since 2020 when adult industry billers have been taking anywhere from $500 to $1000 per year for visa "fees" for like forever.

agreed with this, and i had no problem with paying mastercard through ccbill when we were on our own servers with ccbill billing on our subscriptions...

the yearly fee comes out and the monthīs income covers this and more.

it was a shock to get the email and as PN says, itīs probably because for the past 6 years iīve been on MC for subscriptions and only goods for ccbill...

Beginning on April 17, 2021, VISA, Inc. will begin classifying the Merchant Category Code 7273 (for U.S, Canada, EU, and UK merchants), and Merchant Category Code 5967 (for EU and UK merchants) as High-Brand Risk categories.

The Credit Card Associations use Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) to classify each business for processing payments. These four-digit MCC codes define the business type for each merchant account.

As a payment processor, CCBill works with VISA and the other major card brands while following their guidelines and policies. We are updating our policies to support this VISA deadline, which will include requiring CCBill merchants that are classified under the MCC 7273 and/or MCC 5967 to pay an annual VISA’s High-Risk Registration Fee.

Because your website(s) is classified MCC 7273 and/or MCC 5967, we wanted to notify you of this important upcoming VISA mandate. This new VISA High-Risk Merchant classification for your account does require you to pay an annual $500 (USD) VISA High-Risk Sponsored Merchant Registration Fee by Wednesday, April 14, 2021, prior to VISA’s April deadline.
As you can see, from my email, this visa fee not mastercard, that was introduced back in 2010 or something, does state, beginning April 2021, not the year 2000 lol :thumbsup

I can't highlight the last paragraph but it's that last section: your NEW classification as high risk. I think that's it right there. Prior to this year you were not listed as high risk due to what you were processing (physical goods). Now they are classifying you like any other "adult" (high risk) account.

You can always contact your CCBill rep and ask wtf. :)

CCBillEu (Europe) Didn't charge $500 for Visa, they used to charge $500 only for MC.

sarettah 03-05-2021 10:23 PM

MCC 5967 Direct marketing, inbound teleservices, audiotext & videotext

MCC 7273 Dating services, misc. personal services

So, if you are only doing physical goods then you should probably talk to someone about why they are mis-classifying your product.
