I don't understand crypto art/NFT?

I don't understand crypto art/NFT?

It's kind of like the old Etch-a-Sketch art movement of the early 60's.

Winklevoss are behind this. They got tons of money. I am hearing stories of people paying big for digital art. But it doesn't make sense to me. Saying you own a digital copy of art really means nothing, owning a famous physical painting. Well fuck me, I guess there isn't much point in owning a physical painting either.

Just rich people being rich people.

We should all take selfies of our balls and put them up for sale as "the GFY NFT collection". Turn it in a competition to find out who has the most valuable sack over here... :pimp:pimp:pimp

But yeah, it's weird phenomenon these NFTs.

Since it's just a platform build on top of Ethereum (and its tokens). So, you're just buying a random token that happens to come with some art image or animated gif (hosted on external platforms like Rarible). What would ''It'' be worth if these platforms go offline? But hey, people seem to be willing to pay 50K for some random animated GIFs... It's pretty fascinating, to say the least.

It would be way more interesting if NFTs would use your wallet as proof of payment for licenses, and your private key would be used to decrypt the content, like premium videos (preventing piracy) or unlock software (as in a software license key). Probably already possible with a regular smart contract. Bla bla bla, boring!

Let's just sell pics of our balls as art instead, bet we're all be retiring in a week or two... :2 cents:

zijlstravideo 02-27-2021 12:42 AM

Got me thinking, surprisingly, I haven't seen any adult models jump on the NFT-train to sell exclusive nudes so far. Could be the perfect option to make a quick buck for content owners.

Celebrity faces painted on ballsacks! :2 cents::2 cents:

I think I just came up with that "one million dollar idea" for NFT art collectibles.
Ps: dips on Whoopi Goldberg, just sayin'...

Ferus 02-27-2021 02:55 AM

Just another way Winklevoss will get millions from poor people, buying stuff they dont need to impress people that dont matter. Stupid sheeps... nothing new

You have to realize, pretty much every aspect of the economy is being digitized. This Pandemic/global shutdown has pushed this trend forward by at least 10 years

I personally agree with you, I think it's fucking mental!

It's worth remembering that in 2013 a LOT of very successful people on this forum believed that Bitcoin was a ponzi scheme, refused to participate when it had a market cap of over $10 billion dollars in just over a year.

NFT's could well be the same (in a few years time)

That's pretty much still the same in the comments section on Facebook, below every news article that's about Bitcoin or blockchain etc. I still read comments in which folks compare blockchain and crypto with the infamous "Dutch Tulip Mania" from 1637, even though Bitcoin was launched about 12 years ago and has been through multiple cycles already.

Oh well, that brings me to another idea - Maybe we should store these type of dumb comments from people (with zero knowledge on a certain subject), and turn those quotes into digital art (NFTs). Just a thought.:pimp:pimp

Go with it. Can't hurt.

The NBA has said their topshot NFTs have already had over $200 million in transactions, in just a few months. That's 5% of the entire sports card market. Yet I've never heard of it. None of my die-hard NBA fans have heard of it. How many of you have heard of it?

This is why it's worth paying close attention to, Crypto was the same in 2013

Between 2012 to 2013 the marketcap increased more than 10x to $10 billion plus

And again I'll say I think it's utter nonesense but if it's making loads of money it has to be taken seriously :2 cents:

it's not about the arts it's about owning the tokens / pumping the prices I guess... art is just an excuse :1orglaugh so many fake ICOs back then lots of money disappeared/stolen... ETH needed some new hype

beavr 03-02-2021 01:22 PM

Beeple is cool

brandonstills 03-05-2021 12:00 PM

I don't get it either. But we do have things like Steam trading cards and Instagram is just an app for uploading photos so there's that. I'm sure there will be enough people who are interested even though to me it seems pointless.

uno 03-06-2021 05:17 AM

It's a really stupid thing you could make a ton of money on. I'm not sure what else you need to know.
