53 Texas Democrats turn up missing. Possible Alien Abduction?

AMBER ALERT POSTED.

News reports late Monday quoted leaders of the missing Democrats as saying they are gathered across the state line in Ardmore, Oklahoma, out of reach of Texas Rangers who have been ordered to arrest them and return them to the House chamber.

i have a lot of friends that are working in the capital and they said things are crazy there right now.

not the first time it's happened here either. in '79, 14 congressmen took off.

Yes. The Democrats have been enjoying the luxury of gerrymandered districts which the Republicans have had enough of and are going to put an end to, so the Democrats split so that no quorum would exist for a vote.

Typical leftist politics.

You are very wrong on this one. The sneaky Texas Republicans are trying to "fix" the state so they control it for the next 10+ years regardless of what many of the voters want.

The Republicans are trying to overrule the courts, which already set up the districts for the 2004 election. Republicans are trying to sneak in a new map that is totally biased and will fuck over the people of Texas. It's nothing short of corruption.

Further, the DeLay map looks to try to minimize the influence of some minorities (hispanics and blacks) in the state.

Typical right wing politics. :)

Now's the time for the Libertarian Party to make its move!

Mr. Fiction, where do you live again?

I've been in Texas all of my life and have many friends and family involved in state politics. This is nothing new - both parties do it every time re-districting comes up on the agenda.

You should see some of the district lines our govt. down here comes up with. The lines they draw are almost exclusively based on ethnic/racial/wealth areas.

Yeah, quite an immature and degrading way to handle something. Democrats are about as good as 6th graders in handling things. They try and get emotional support from people by making it look as if they are being *picked* on. Republicans are not being SNEAKy, they are just trying to make things bvetter by getting their conservative legislation passed.

Libertarian - I agree entirely, but like I tell alot of libertarian supporters, don`t waste your vote on Libertarian elections until the Republicans have a majority or a landslide, because then you just give the Democrats a vote by doing so.

Next year when I campaign for the GOP I should also campaign for the Green Party to cost the Democrats some votes, but by doing that i`d be going down to the Democrats level of cheating and hiding out.

Kimmykim 05-13-2003 01:42 PM

OMG now this is funny!

Dubyah is not a Texan. He went to Yale and grew up in Connecticut as part of a rich New England family that happened to be involved in oil and thus tried to look like Texans.

The problem with voting Republican is that they are really Democrats in disguise. Steel Tariffs? What the fuck is that? $300 tax rebates? What a fucking joke! A tax cut would be a real cut.

Ketadream 05-13-2003 02:48 PM

Yup big news in austin yesterday...

The other folks are locked in chambers till friday...

traffictrader 05-13-2003 03:01 PM

blah blah blah, yap yap yap, wine whine whine

To the Republicians: No one likes it when people use their power to try to STAY in power, rather than actually fixing the problems you were elected to deal with.

To the Democrates: No one likes a baby that runs away from their problems.

They are BOTH being immature... typical politics in GENERAL, left wing or right wing.
