A New Payment Method For Paysites
 

Ok now some will say this is off the wall but I think its not.

The goal is to be able to have the surfer pay cash to access digital stuff online (adult and non adult)

Build a little machine that is connected to a network (kinda like an ATM Machine) that can easily be placed in the same locations ATM's are etc.

The machine will allow the surfer to put cash in it and select what paysite he wants access to (paysites that are part of the network to accept this payment), it then spits out a little paper with a user and pass and updates the websites UP DB.

The cash is collected and distributed to the webmasters weekly or an ATM is issued to them and they can use it right away.

This might sound off the wall now but I see this happening one day and I might even consider giving it a shot.

There are tons of benifits to a system like this, if you are this biz you will understand.

if you put it in strip clubs and porn shops though, might work out pretty good. you'd probably end up having to send the shop owner some commission, but i bet you could also jack the prices for their comission at the machine. it would ignite the impulse buyer in people.

There are tons of mainstrem digital products as well, even small companies like clickbank process tons of ebook related purchases daily.

I remember some years ago, they were trying to push a machine that you could swipe your credit card into it and the computer would take your information for payment...

This is more of a cash way to buy a membership to a site.

Your prototype would cost at least 10 k to produce.The software and getting the machine to outlets would probably run up to 100k. Way too risky

Why not just add that service to current ATM's ? Instead of funding a new machine network.. work with the networks that are out already!?

Well because you dont want to many involved when you deal with cash plus the system would need a state ID type of system where it makes sure you are over 18 21 or 25 depending.

yeah, but those are mainstream products. you'd have to specifically place these units. look around, the public isn't going to agree to allowing that stuff just around all your mainstream stuff. besides that, who would want to go up to the porn machine at the mall and buy porn? that would remove a lot of potential customers. i think you'd have to go the route of those little candy machines, where you give the store owner credits and stuff, because i doubt they'd let them in for free. i wouldn't.

but then you kill off the members who forget to cancel cc rebills

and it actually makes people feel like they are spending more, when they give away cash instead of using a cc, which they will pay for after a month.

Better idea:

Sell a basic AVS card at adult bookstores... $29.95 - it gets activated like a calling card or gift card at purchase, then the simple password code works. Pretty low tech.

"All the porn you can handle, $29.95 for a year" - that would sell to the crowds who don't know much about AVS.

Better yet, print up millions of those "all the porn you want - try it for two weeks FREE" cards... have Best Buy hand them out... er, or get them slipped into adult DVDs. Do a 15 day trial for a premium AVS, and then rebill at $24.95 a month if not cancelled.

I think if you made a case that looked like a DVD with some great pics from the actual sites, etc. it could be a great impulse buy near the counter.

those aren't real customers, and you shouldn't have to rely on their income.

i've been think of a similar idea. something along the lines of a refillable pre-paid membership card. you pay $50-$100 for the card and you can use it as a payment method at a network of sites. or you can use it in conjunction with those token sites.

i think the best best thing to do is to let a big player like paypal.com to make cash cards.. enter the code, u have X amount of money.

but it would have to be paypal big. smaller ones will have a hard time starting this up

Yeah with the pre-paid card idea you couldn't offer trials though.
I can see a guy with a $10 prepaid card buying 5 trial memberships at 1.95 each.

thats the thing, it cant be ONLY adult.. that wont get the reach. But giving it to paypal will allow You to use it for ebay items. ANY ebay items.. so ppl will be inclinded to buy a paypal card it to pay for auction items but secretly go onto porn sites...

this is definitely on the right track, but it would be better if the cards were usable for anything you want to buy on the net, not just adult. so you can sell them at every 7-11 in the country without any stigma attached to the purchase. the problem (of course) is then you have kids buying them to access porn.

Simple enough solution, Quiet - have the cashier card the person for the purchase just as they do for beer and cigarettes.

And call it an "Internet Card", not an "Adult XXX Card".

Another benefit to these is that the person is definitely present at the time of sale. If he uses his credit card to buy the Internet Card, his signature is there, baby.

However, you need mass distribution to make this work. At Internext florida last year there was a team promoting these adult cards and they looked fantastic (all softcore, very classy and exciting but not raunchy).

None of the big players would touch them because their "reach" was so small. The distribution wasn't there.

well people are already basically doing this in Europe - you buy a porn membership and bill it to your cell phone. you get a password sent as a text message to your phone, you go to the website, enter in the password and you're in! it just shows up as a charge on your phone at the end of the month.

when they start SMS billing here in the US you'll see that billing solution advertised alot IMO.
