Verified By Visa in Canada

CIBC has just started offering it and TD will be offering starting this summer or fall (can't remember which one). Let's hope more Canadian banks follow and more IPSPs start to accept it.

How are they disclosing it? B of A looks to be taking a page out of adult here in the states.

"How can the Bank of America Verified by Visa service prevent unauthorized use of my card on the Internet?
Verified by Visa provides a way to password-protect credit card and Check Card usage on the Internet. Simply register your Bank of America credit card or Check Card and choose a password. Your password is required when you use your card to make Internet purchases at participating merchants. The requirement of your password prevents unauthorized usage of your credit card or Check Card on the Internet, giving you more confidence about making secure purchases online. "

That's all they have to say about it. Not even a link to anything else.

A few weeks ago I started seeing advertising for that here in Australia too.

That's from CIBC's terms, but it seems to be a template issued by Visa to each bank ("You agree that, except as otherwise provided by Applicable Law or in our cardholder agreement with you, [insert Member Bank name] shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings").

It's more or less the way we disclose that cardholder's have no recourse if their PIN number is used to do a cash advance.

At the bottom, it says "Password-Protect your card: Verified by Visa? gives you added security for your online purchases."

When you click, on Verified by Visa, it brings you to https://bankofamerica.vbv.cyota.com/...on/welcome.jsp

There's a button to review the ToS (bottom-right) and when you click on the "Register" button, you're brought to https://bankofamerica.vbv.cyota.com/...disclaimer.jsp which is essentially the same page as the Terms page, but with "I agree/disagree" buttons.

Right now, that's open for debate. It's an optional feature. You don't have to have it on your card.
However, if you do have it on your card, and you purchase something at a VbV merchant, you want be able to charge it back as "Unauthorized".

Does Bank of America have any idea how illegible the text on their website is at 1024x768 or higher?
