White Stripes - by accident I listened
Okay, I'm hooked.
Where did these people come from. "ball and bisquet" |
Broken Bricks
they aren't bro and sis, their ex wife and ex husband.. |
I'm sorry but - these should be archived.
they are too different. |
White Stripes:thumbsup
I was playing Elephant all night last night! |
i think from michigan then moved to uk and hit it big
|
Got the cd today good shit. . . they are from northern england i think thats what the guys accent sounds like
|
theyre from detroit mich
they used to say they were bro/sis till a reporter found out they used to be married. got the buzz going when they played the UK/England |
Definitely Detroit. They were on a small label out of Detroit before doing the big record deal.
If you are reading this and wondering why we think they are so great Click Here to hear/watch 7 Nation Army. |
White Stripes fuking own! :thumbsup
|
I knew they seemed a bit to friendly for Brother and Sister... :disgust
|
White Stripes is a killer two piece band and I love how he takes his guitar and makes sound like a bass at times....just a pedal I guess, but very cool! As a matter a fact, its time to crack a cold one and put in some Stripes on for my next session!:thumbsup
|
Good shit. I was just listening to a bunch of new stuff people have sent me over the last week or so and "Little Acorns" was in there. Not a spectacular song but good enough to make me check out the rest of the CD. Definitely good stuff. :thumbsup
|
|
Yep, to bad their sound has already been done before,,right down to the bass style and voice...damn, and I thought ACDC was finally dead and buried...
|
Detroit and using their huge UK Buzz to bring half of the cities bands back over the pond with them. I guess about 18 months ago they played a gig at the 100 club on Oxford Street (the same place the Sex Pistols caught the public eye) and all of a sudden all the music press was wetting themselves. Reports of people crying at how good this unknown band was, etc. Couple months later they are playing the huge outdoor mucis fests and then this new album goes to #1 and the riff from 'Seven Nation Army' is played on every BBC comercial.
When a song is played in the background on Eastenders you know the mainstream isn't far away. |
the white stripes fuckin' slam it cold.

well originality is hardly common these days
|
A cool thing about the album Elephant is the entire album was recorded in analog. That says a lot about the band in itself.
|
Yeah, 8 track! Most bands use a full 24 to 96 even if they are fully analog. They are recording like The Stones' early work. I love these two.
And, yes, everyone is influenced by someone else. I was told by the Legendary B.B. King once that all music is inspired by someone else's work and "If you hear something you like, run with it and make it yours!" That's what The White Stripes did and it sounds damn good! |
Saw them live a few weeks ago on the first date of their uk tour.
They kicked serious arse :thumbsup :thumbsup |
Saw them along with the Strokes late last year at Radio City, they ripped it.
|
you need to be on an acid trip to watch the seven nation army video!
|
Alright time too check these mofo's out..
|
They rock!:thumbsup
|
Seriously radical band!:thumbsup
|
first good new band in a long time ... i am so sick of these wannabe alice in chains bands whining about how miserable life is all over rock radio stations ... go put a bullet in your head. White stripes have a great raw sound, lots of other guitarists influence can be heard in jacks style... i love listening to drummers like danny carey (sp?) from tool, or my favorite, fuck, how can i forget his name ... the guy from the smashing pumpkins. but i can just as easily enjoy pounding beats meg throws down...
:thumbsup aha ... jimmy chaimberlain (sp?) |
bump -- bump bump - bump bump -- bump
The white stripes deserve a bump |
here they are in a bootlegged live performance live
|
You never fucking heard "Fell In love with a girl"
Or the remake "fell in love with a boy" Fell in love with a girl was like #1 on the radio for 4 months. BMF |

You guys heard of another 2 piece band called The Black Keys?
Can download a few of their tracks here: http://www.epitaph.com/bands/index.php?id=309 Most people i know that like the White Stripes also dig these guys, so maybe you'll like 'em too. Set you free = awesome. |
Anyone notice a resemblance to Robert Smiths's voice?
|
the white stripes are a crappy band, any one with any type of ear for music will realize that... the girl on the drums sucks... the guy cant play the guitar that great, but hes got some good lyrics...
to them i give no props.. :2 cents: |
I love them.. they have a real retro sound. You don't have to be technically great to make great fucking music.
Sometimes the whole is greater then the sum of its parts if you know what I mean? |
They're amazing, probably one of the best bands that currently gets airtime. With all the garbage that is coming out these days, it's nice to at least see one real band being played. Other great bands like Pearl Jam seem to have been forced into obscurity because they refuse to play McDonalds commercials on their albums. Very refreshing to see a creative band among the corporate lackeys.
