Starting an affiliate program.. do you run a beta?

If you're planning on starting an affiliate program, is it a good idea to run a beta test with a handful of webmasters to test traffic, conversions, recurring percentage, etc? Or is it good enough to test with with your own traffic from various sources?

I did - took that to decide to launch the sites to the public.

probably your own traffic...

Of course, test out conversions first with your own traffic and with a small group of webmasters and then scale.

Look at playboycash, it's been in testing for over 6 months and just went publicly live today...

But did they beta test specifically to see conversions and recurring?
Or did they beta test to work out bugs, etc?

What's a good length of time to test for?

I believe it was mostly to get conversions up since their tour changed a few times. After all, lensman already has the infrastructure in place from adultplatinum so i don't imagine its too much of a change, but someone from Adult.com can probably confirm that, don't take my word for it.

As for time frame, as long as you need. Once you go live you better not have any bugs since its your program's reputation on the line and you don't want it to get tarnished by a bug or a slow server.
