How many conferences do you go to per year now?
I think one year I did like 12 or 13 conferences. A few of them were back to back and in nearby cities thankfully, but it was a pretty wearing and tearing (but FUN!) year... and profitable as well. All of the meetups except for one were adult industry related.
Looking like it'll be close to 10 for me this year but with more domestic and fewer overseas. Attending these are still profitable for me thankfully but a lot of the familiar faces have really been shifting to the affiliate and mainstream focused conferences more than anything. Speaking of... does anyone here have any insight on some of the lesser known meetups that have proven to be good for you for business? Chances are our business models are different but if there are opportunities for growth and meeting influential people, I'm definitely down to consider. |
Last year I did ASW, affiliate world Barcelona, and Phoenix Forum.
This year I will do Internext/ASW, and probably Prague. Frequent shows are redundant for me, I'm happy with only going 1-2 times a year these days. |
I've been in business for 22 years and have been to maybe 4 shows, even though Internext is just a 20 minute drive from my house. I don't really get anything out of it. I never meet anyone on my level that wants to work together or share ideas. Although I did meet a lot of people that wanted me to tell them everything for free, and not share anything in return.
Now I go to a private meeting or two but that's about it. Everything else can be handled in a discord chat or in email. |

I will do Prague, and maybe do Miami this year, just because I want to meet with a few guys based there. More than that is just redundant and repetitive to me. Face to face is valuable, but more than 1-2 shows a year is overkill, when I can follow up on skype and email with most. Probably get into the Lisbon/Prague yearly circuit.

Years ago I went to Venus in Berlin, a few years back I went to Prague....a lot of time, mucho cash spent, many days of follow ups but "nada" worth of business. Now when Prague is called " an affiliate" confernce likely even less....
In my " mainstream" days I went to Cannes, AFM and Berlin Markt....always productive since it had a focus. Financing, making and selling content, not pushing schemes, widgets and recycling shit.:2 cents: |
Maybe one. Hopefully more this year.

Only when i am in the neighbourhood. Went to Affiliate World Bangkok last month cause i was in Thailand for 3 months.
When i was working while living in Holland i went more, to get away from the cold and visit new cities and countries. Now maybe i visit 1 event per year. |

As for me I do 2-3 a year and try to cram as much in, historically it's always been to see folks I don't normally get to sit down with and have current business with...so most of the meetings are private ones. Everything can be done online, so really no need to wait for the shows for anything. I do like the topics at some of the shows of late, shows some thought being put into what people like and want to see/hear at the shows, not just random topics - in the right direction for sure... :2 cents: |
