eRock 05-08-2003 12:45 AM

Not permantly, but I have been known to disappear once in a while...

Dveron 05-08-2003 12:45 AM

I move around all the time, this biz is perfect to be able to do it as well. This past year I've lived in England, Spain and back to Van City. I've been doing it so long I get itchy feet if I stay anywhere longer than a year, I like Van though a lot :thumbsup

MiLo 05-08-2003 12:46 AM

When i was a kid, we were always on the move...

And in the past 3 years i did that 2 times actually.

But i always came back home, i missed my friends too much.
Could get good people to get drunk around and stuff in other
places like in here. These kids are my blood.

When you travel to all of these different countries do they ask you what you do for work and give you any hassle for it, or do they just not care?

kelly 05-08-2003 01:21 AM

Yup, came to the opposite end of the country for a two week break, that was 8 years ago and I never went back :)

MCsteve-matrix 05-08-2003 01:40 AM

Mr Pheer 05-08-2003 02:13 AM

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2003 02:58 AM

well just about 7 years ago now I got on a plane with a one way ticket and moved to London without ever having been here before.

Carrie 05-08-2003 03:38 AM

I was sitting around in Syracuse one day with my group of buddies bitching and moaning about the downturn the IT biz had taken there. Came up with an idea... why don't we all move to Ft Lauderdale?
Half of us were there a week later, the other half followed three weeks later (kids were involved). Only one backed out, and that's because he found out the day before he was supposed to leave that his girlfriend was pregnant.

I get itchy feet after living in the same *house* for 8 months, which is a bitch, because hubby absolutely hates to move.

unconnected 05-08-2003 03:53 AM

Moved from a small city on the west coast of Canada(Kelowna) to Montreal on the other end of the country..

Just packed everything up and my GF and I drove across Canada with our Cat(an amazing trip).. Great decision and Great move!
You HAVE to move out of the city you grew up in.. If you dont' go out and see other places in the world or at least your own country how can you know how the world works or even who you are?

It is a must I think

SGS 05-08-2003 03:58 AM

Just had a house built in the UK and had an old villa restored in southern Spain. I enjoy living in both.

GTS Mark 05-08-2003 04:14 AM

Moved from Toronto to Vancouver in October. Best move I ever made :)

Mishi 05-08-2003 04:18 AM

Kansas City to Scottsdale, last June. Actually we decided to move during the winter (because, um, we hated winter) but we didn't get our shit together until May. Got out just before the 110% humidity hit. Don't miss winter, don't miss summer. REALLY don't miss tornados.

adamneve 05-08-2003 05:01 AM

i did it 6 months ago it's a great way to see new places:thumbsup

I think we're done for a while. :)

Worldnet 05-08-2003 06:54 AM

I did. Up and moved to Colorado in 93. Biggest mistake I ever made. Left after three months. I would not recomend doing it unless you have friends, or close contacts there.

TeaseEntertainments2 05-08-2003 08:53 AM

Yeah man,
I ahve done it 3 times...All within Canada (Montreal, Halifax now Toronto). I always need a change!

Turboface 05-08-2003 08:54 AM

My girlfriend wants us to pick up and move to North Carolina.

Presently, we live in NJ and considering the problems we have been having with this crazy, crackhead, bitch neighbor - it's not sounding like too bad of an idea right about now.

Who all here is from NC? Is it all hillbillies and rednecks down there?

Kevin2 05-08-2003 09:01 AM

Qumbus waar in Belgie woon u?

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2003 09:07 AM

Belgium is one of the most beautiful countries I have visited.

Yo Adrian 05-08-2003 09:45 AM

A few times yes...just up and moved.

About 8 years ago I just up and moved to Europe, with then my girlfriend, made the decision to move and was there within a month.

Sarah_Jayne 05-08-2003 09:54 AM

sometimes it is best just to pull the band-aid off all at once

Rich J. 05-08-2003 10:07 AM

I do it about every other year or so... Went from Santa Cruz, California to Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Then from there I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico then Toronto, Canada after that. Just moved down here to Sacramento a few months ago. Think I'll stick it out here for awhile. If something were to happen here I think I would shoot for somewhere in Europe next.

KRL 05-08-2003 10:17 AM

Yep, in 1978, at age 20, from Philadelpia to Los Angeles. Had 16 great years out there, but after the Northridge quake the big house we had built got so thrashed, I said to my ex-wife, that's the last earthquake I'm going to deal with we're moving.

Looked in Unique Homes magazine to see what else offered the LA type lifestyle and saw lots of gorgeous Florida homes. Hopped on a plane the next day, flew down, called my ex the same day and said this is it, its perfect.

So, in 1994, moved back to the East coast down to South Florida. I love it here and wouldn't move anywhere else.

Go for it. There is nothing more exciting as starting fresh.

FlyingIguana 05-08-2003 10:22 AM

i'm moving back to toronto in june. cant wait.

kastudio 05-08-2003 10:41 AM

How many times is the question for me??? Let's see - this is where my adventurous personality has taken me...My parents moved me to Algarve Portugal when I was about 8 where I lived for 7 years...but that doesn't really count. Ever since high school I have moved around from Winfield to Kamloops, Kamloops to Portugal, Portugal to Kelowna, Kelowna to Kamloops, Kamloops to Portugal, Portugal to Toronto, Toronto to Kelowna, Kelowna to Vancouver, Vancouver to Edmonton, Edmonton to Vancouver, Vancouver to Kelowna and finally Kelowna to Montreal.

PHEW....ok I am beat - shit that is nuts now that I think about it - all of that in only 10 years!!

Right now Montreal is kicking a lot of ass. My bf and I have been here for a year now and we are staying for another - good old Porn I say...hehe.

Next stop Canary Islands - which island you ask? Who cares...

eroswebmaster 05-08-2003 10:46 AM

I've been moving all my life.

I went to 6 different elementary schools, 1 junior high, 3 high schools.

Since I got out of school I have lived in California, Colorado, New Mexico, moved back to Texas and now I live in Vegas.

My goal is to move back to the west coast by this time 2004. The choices are back to LA, or NW like Portland, or Seattle.

angeleyes 05-08-2003 12:07 PM

After college when I was younger I was infamous for "state hopping"..... Didn't need a good reason, I would just pick up and go.

bitch. They will not ship the Philly care packages overseas. Luckily I have a parental visit in June so butterscoth krimpets are on order. Haven't had a cheesesteak or even a hoagie in years though.
