Just got an email from a customer...

I've never traded/sold/shared/displayed our list with anyone... I'm the only person with access to it and yet people are getting spammed? Am I missing something here? How the fuck would this happen other than the company spamming using random character generation? I installed several features in the software to ensure security of the list.. argh.

i have gotten a couple of emails to [email protected] on several different domains, and ive never bought content from you... so... id say its random or someone trying to fuck you.

I have NO idea how the fuck this is happening.. we have not, NOR would we ever sell our email list to ANYONE. Hell, we don't even sell adspace.. we will place an ad now and again for programs/sites we respect and who respect our right to do so. I am appauled that someone would seemingly go to these lengths to pull this bullshit. We send ONE email a week, our weekly update.. Anyone who's been on our list knows that as fact. I think ONCE in the entire history of our list we sent TWO emails, and the second was because the code screwed up in the first and was sent in error. If I find out who the hell is doing this, believe me, they will not be pleased.

You just posted the email on a public message board. The spammers will harvest it again now

bump, anyone know anything about this? We do NOT want this to continue. We do NOT spam emails, EVER. We would not and HAVE not sold our email list. So.. ANY help would be appreciated. In fact, I will offer a reward to anyone who can really help with this. Icq me 3522039.

Spam is becoming an excuse for poor work ethics.

If you make $10,000 per week... I bet you'd care less about spam...

I care that people are making it look like WE spam or that WE sold our mailing list. I CARE about my customers, and I would NEVER EVER do that to them. Therefore, if it makes my customers upset, it makes me VERY FUCKING UPSET. We did not GET spammed, we had someone spam using our name. THAT is bullshit.

Spammers will use any email address for the "from" field. The point is, if someone purchase content, and gets a spam from jact @ anyfuckingdomain.com.....what conclusions might they draw?

They got spam TO jact @ anyfuckingdomain.com (An email address they'd setup specifically for our company apparently) and yes, I know that's how it appears. That's the problem.

So we DO understand each other... :winkwink:

In China some restaurant owners will poison their competitions food. This happens quite often.

No it doesn't...and I wish there was a better answer. I don't know if someone could get you any closer the the spammer in question with the full email header. You should have your pissed off customer send you all the info.

I wrote email to the contact address from the whois, no response from them, but .. Wow.. Suddenly I'm getting spammed like fucking mad on the address I sent the mail with. I can't win.

I got the same email tonight...just checked my inbox. Someone must have hand typed it into a list because a couple letters were switched around in my name :1orglaugh
