Video editing & RE-compression.... Vegas Video
If you have Xmin web-ready clips/streams that the content providers give you & you want to chop them down to 15 second gallery clips & RE-COMPRESS them...
how would you go about this? I love the easy editing in Vegas Video & tMPGenc seems great for the encoding. My problem is exporting the file from Vegas for tMPGenc... What format and settings should I export it as to have it be as lossless as possible? |
If you're exporting from Vegas then compressing that file, just export as .avi DV. It'll be gigantic but lossless.

Doesnt the mainconcept plug in come with vegas????!?!?!?!?!?!
I know it did with mine |
I go to Render As... | .AVI / NTSC DV |
I go on the Project tab and change "Video Rendering Quality" to BEST. On the video tab the original screen size is much smaller than the 720x480 NTSC DV screen size... does this matter? Under "Video Format" on the Video tab, there is an 'uncompressed' option... would that be better than NTSC DV? |

The MainConcept plug-in is on here, but for some reason I can't tweak the options on it. I have it on Default Template & when I click the "CUSTOM" button it doesn't do anything. How do you set the bitrate using this plugin? |

Anyhow..when you choose that encoding, go to the bar where it says "Advanced Rendering". That takes you to the next screen where you can pull down the templates already in place, (Make sure you have again chosen the Main Concept Mpeg option) THEN chose custom and you get the full page of changes you can make. Let me know if you're still having problems. |

Glad it's working for you. |
