Joker Movie. No Spoilers
 

So I went to see JOKER last night. One word: Wow.

Joker is based on the Batman character by DC, but this is not a superhero movie. Not even close. It is an origin film. It's beautiful, dark, brutally violent, depressing and stunning. There's no CGI except for very minor building modifications, little action. Just a great story and a disturbing performance that would make Heath Ledger proud.

It's also a stand-alone movie that while a part of the DC Expanded Universe, won't have a sequel where he squares-off against Batman.

Oscar-worthy acting for sure.

I saw it on a large screen but noticed at the end that it was specially formatted for IMAX. There are so many gorgeous scenes in it that I want to see it again and when I do, I will watch it in IMAX just to see the difference.

Joker is a great movie that's worth seeing in the theatre.

I'm sure I'm the only one who hated this pile of shit but I'll tell you why...

It's down right cliche to make a super disturbing 'dark' joker movie now and I don't know why that is. It's a fucking comic book character who is kinda goofy and a bit of a villain not satan...

His acting is totally hammed up for god knows why. If he maybe relaxed in his roles a bit maybe he wouldn't be so obvious and would get more acclaim for it even.

the story is gross the character is rushed and equally gross and there is zero character development that isn't a direct sledgehammer metaphor spoon fed to us. So basically written by a 12 year old. I didn't hate everything about it, but mostly it was unwatchable and i would never see this again because its just a guy going nuts on camera without real reason for over 2 hours.

That may sound weird, but I really liked the performance of Cameron Monaghan in Gotham tv series. So he is my number 2 Joker after Jack Nicholson. As for Phoenix, he looks like just tired worker who went mad, no insane charisma and obsession

Didnt watch but heard a lot that movie is amazing, and of course another part of story lol that people dislike it. anyways i am sure is cool and i will watch it.

Excellent movie "The Joker". Dark as hell though. Joaquin Phoenix should get an Oscar, but probably won't since the Oscar committee is a joke.

Because it's "edgy". It's "dark". Noone gets him and his "darkness" wah wah. Being loony is edgy today, not for institution.

It's based on Joker from the comics, who was a dark character. And besides, it's a new take. Jack Nicolson's character went nuts because he fell into a pot of acid and scared his face. It was OK at the time but probably wouldn't be convincing now. By having this character fucked up at a young age and then live a sheltered life, it makes more sense as to why he turns so dark.

Strangely, a friend of mine who had some similar experiences, walked out of the movie. He told me it was terrible and dark and violent and not to go see it. Of course I wanted to see it anyway, and I'm glad I did. But still.

The movie's not for everyone for sure, but I enjoyed it. It's worth seeing.

Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors in Hollywood these days.

I recall first seeing him as a porn store clerk in 8mm. He owned that role. Just sleazy enough to be believable, but had other layers that came out as the movie went on. And of course he was great in Gladiator.

Eager to see him as the Joker.

1- it is not a joker movie, this "joker" is someone else that makes very average jokes and suffers for various reasons. There is no reason for this guy to become THE joker.

2- the movie is boring because it takes far too much time to explain that the joker is getting crazy. Ok i get it... joker, crazy, joker, crazy. Crazy, the joker.

3- Explain why the police is after the clowns of the agency, if what matters for the population is the political symbol of the outfit ?

4- rich guys = bad, poor guys = sad

5- it doesnt answer the questions it should answer. Oh so who is his father ? I understood the same as for batman. Many others understood the opposite. Why does he kill his mother ? No answer, but i guess it is important...
An origin story that doesnt give real answes and that is not likely for the character it claims to depict...

Very average movie.
It is well filmed and the colors of the movies are nice and thats about it. No idea for the actor...
