I was speaking about illegal drugs. I certainly know people that have prescriptions for various drugs, including myself. In addition I certainly know people that avail themselves of the drug alcohol, including myself.

But that lets you get away with that bullshit condescending tone in the previous post?

Read post above...but none that I know abuse the use of prescribed drugs. Among other prescriptions that I have is one for morphine patches...I seldom use them...only when I have extraordinary and intolerable pain.

Yes it has and there are reasons for this. The "war" has been concentrated on dealers and producers. This will never be eliminated or even greatly reduced because there is just to much money to be made. A country (I cannot now recall which country it was) took the correct approach and went after the users. They instituted mandantory 12 month lock down treatment centers...stressing intensive treatment. When one was released, if caught using again they were sent back for another 12 months of treatment. After a few years of this "war" on drugs the reslults were something over a 70% decrease in drug use.

The USA has spent hundreds of billions since the "war" on drugs was started by President Nixon and as you stated it has been a dismal failure.

Probably the same reason I need that medical marijuana prescription.. for my, uh, "cluster headaches"

So where does personal opinion kick in?

Laws are legislated by public officials that are elected by voters. What is illegal today could become legal in the future. Personal opinion kicks in by contacting your legislators. Most of the populace does not participate and that is their individual fault.

We have one here at our place. My friends dad is Persian. The thing is a hit, 5 nights a week people are over smoking up the tobacco.

Just because they are the daughters of the President doesn't mean they aren't "only human" also.

When I was a teen and in my 20's, 98% of the people I knew did drugs and probably still do because I doubt they ever grew up.
