How’d You Discover GFY?
 

I received email from a webmaster who asked for a link trade. I discussed the issue and he said xxxxxxx was a great source. I landed in the pond and there I learned of other forums including GFY. I thought it was a joke and went to see it and found out it was real.

I found out the hard way to not jump at design offers. A thousand dollars later though a good design, I saw offers to do the same work for a quarter of the price.

Still made good contacts through here.

I've drunk way too much over the years but I know I found another webmaster board back in 2001. Sometime after that, I found and lurked at this place till PHX forum 2003. People told me I had to join GFY and my life has been ruined ever since haha.

No special story to tell, no special way I found it... I just seemed to be aware of it. I was lurking for about a year or so, and decided to join up when I arrived in america "permanently" in August 2002...

Then Dugmor appeared at an adult convention and asked if I knew about it, and I said yes and told him my nic...

I avoided GFY for awhile, but then finally joined in 2001.

A good friend of mine told me about the board on 2003

In our weekly meeting almost 20 years Lensman announced we were going to launch a message board called GoFuckyourself.com :winkwink:

Well knew about GFY - all of us had hung out at YNOT and handful of other boards back then...

I was arguing with my ex wife one day and instead of telling her to go fuck herself, I typed gofuckyourself.com into my browser... didn't expect much but it changed my life. January 2006. I got banned for being a spamming wanna-be swiftly, but came back legit. Got banned again over some racist bullshit, but came back during the recent wild west era.

It's been a fun ride.

Friends in the biz already on board with a few K posts pointed me in the right direction.

Come to think of it... It might have been Tanker who pushed us to join GFY. This was back in the Lightspeed days.

I was an affiliate manager and would give advice to our affiliates. Someone told me they got different advice on GFY.

I came and scanned the board, then told them to ignore what they heard here.

I used to post on AdultCheck webmaster forums. I think it was Drops / CherryBucks who referred me to GFY.

I was looking for a free deepthroat-blowjob-date and google came up with Bladewire’s profile here...

I used to post on SupraForums.com a lot, and in 2003 someone created a thread in the offtopic section asking how to make money selling porn. One of the first responses was a link to GFY, so I clicked it.

GFY appeared to me in a dream . . .

I came late to the game. After a few years in the business I stumbled upon it in a search result and was amazed to find a community full of assholes like me.

It came up in conversation at Bondcon in Queens, NY back in 2001. Lurked a few years before signing up in '05.

I stumbled upon GFY as a result of searching for webmaster forums.

Lensman referred me from another big board at the time.

let me guess... the forum that posted affiliate stats. they had a bad falling out

Reffered by a friend who was posting galleries and hangout here. Back in 2004 I think.

I found GFY by google searching for forums that had more info on Adult Affiliate Marketing, glad I joined, made many good contacts here.

There was a group of us webmasters on OffTopic.com's old webmaster sub-forum who owned a bunch of shock sites, image hosting sites, porn blogs and forums. We all lurked here for a while to keep an eye on adult offers, then I joined eventually.

I probably lurked for 2 years before joining. That was also my first 2 years of full time in adult. 2004 was when I started my first adult / porn site (at 18 in HS).

got told on a newbie board (ANS) in 2004, also got told 'it's a bit of a jungle', and to basically ignore it, so didn't bother lurking until 2005. Still very fast moving back then and took up way too much time, so I didn't bother reading properly until I signed up in 2007 I think it says. Wasn't the best advice I ever got as a newbie to kinda 'ignore' gfy, so I missed a lot of opportunites. To be fair though, I'd have probably got involved in way too many pissing matches, and not have the circle of friends I now have.
