Removing Negative Comments & Information

I found a link earlier about websites that remove anything from websites. They can’t guarantee search engine removal and claim that no charges are due for help. It sounded fishy and I went to one site. $3,000-$10,000 per year for 10-20 websites plus 1-5 unique websites.

I’m wondering how they do this unless they threaten legal action. If, say, Donny L wanted all negative comments about him off this site, would Eric conform or say gfy?

Years ago there was a case about this issue and I remember that a disclaimer of not being responsible for public comments was suggested to all. I added that to my forums and was still careful with the comments left on my sites.

If x username said x username is a pedophile or rapist or something like that here, and you were x username called out, would you pay ten grand to have it removed?

Prospective employers scan Facebook for information about potential hires. If I read here that xxx was a pedophile, would I believe it? Not unless I could see it on a legal website and it was documented. Creating fake reports and records is easy for some people. But on legit sites?

You could seriously hate someone and create an entire folder of proof that they were arrested and convicted of something heinous. It would be taken offline but hiding yourself is not hard. Post from a vpn and the damage is done.

I just talked about this with a friend and she was curious if these services were needed. Our conversation is partly above and the paranoia that could be caused is scary.

Eric doesn't work here anymore, so pretty sure he would tell him to GFY.

This is called "reputation management". I was under the impression that they removed informaiton from the "data" sites. For example, if you do a search for any name you will undoubtably come up with sites that will offer to sell you information about that person. These sites will list and detail court cases, bankruptcies, judgements, etc.... I think these are the sites they remove infomration from. And I am guessing they have a deal in place where they kick back some money to them.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I just glanced at one site. They mention social media, blogs and more. https://www.reputationdefender.com/ and the prices are outrageous. With knowledge, anyone can do this and make money. The guarantee to remove search engine listings is almost too good to be true. The other site can’t guarantee removal but I didn’t look for prices.

I’m pretty convinced that this is for revenge posts and porn. I get mad at Rochard, I post his photo on gay dating sites and include phone numbers, personal information and fake information. Google and Bing grab your information and I get friends to click on the listings. You move up the ladder.

You spend hour after hour contacting sites for removal. Or, pay for the service and get things removed until I start again.

It sounds far-fetched but I’m certain that this is plausible. You hear about people posting on dating sites for revenge and cause harassment.

Looks like there's such a service here at gfy https://gfy.com/22490711-post25.html

I used to offer something like this for search engine results. Basically I ranked good news about you over bad news, or whois info for your shemale domains you forgot to set to private.

You brought up an interesting topic. Lots of medical professionals, lawyers etc etc are willing to pay to cover up. "Reputation management" just some new positive articles or blogs, just charge for PR to outrank the negatives but they are all still there. Empty promises..

Those sites with paid Background reports also.
USA sites try to charge $$ for info/court records/phone numbers those aggregated sites with your relatives, income, addresses.

"scan for info" type site

Yeahhhh this happens... ridiculous but dating sites remove if that happens.

Like V said, when it comes to search engines it is about burying negative stuff with good.

I remember a few weeks ago some kid didn’t get into Harvard because he had used racist names on Facebook I think it was. Search engines were listing his comments as they weren’t private.

These days, people search for the things they can use against you.
