Ideas for security if iMac is going to shop for work...

There's a local computer shop offering deals on an SSD upgrade for my late 2009 iMac. Its a very tempting thing, reasonable price and same day service. He opens iMac, images my Hard Drive to a new 1Tb SSD and puts it all back together. iMac drive contents is identical, yet its now running on the new drive. All straightforward and good, except...

I have a lot of personal info on my contacts app. I also use it for note taking of passwords, bank info, and all sorts of stuff. Now this is never normally an issue, as someone would have to physically steal my iMac, (Or hack iCloud) for them to get this info...

Unfortunately, in order to have the upgrade done, I have to physically leave the iMac out of my possession for the day.

So, any ideas guys? I don't think I can lock the contacts program, and if I were to put a password on my main account, meaning that he couldn't log in, I'm not sure if that would stop him being able to do the imaging part... ?

How would you go about ensuring your info remains safe?

Please don't say 'Do it yourself' cause the kit to just open the iMac (Suckers and 2 special screwdrivers etc) is like £50 on amazon before I even get to purchase the SSD, and I'd rather just have a guy who does it all the time do it for me...

Answering my own question, I'm now thinking about copy/pasting the contacts info into an email, then sending it to my phone which is a different account.

Then I could delete the sent email from the imac along with the contact pages in question from the contacts app.

Upon completion, I could email what I had sent to my phone, back to my imac and copy / paste back into the contacts app?

That would work wouldn't it?

Yep, thanks, but I'm thinking now that the copy paste method may be the least troublesome in the long run. I didn't wanna write stuff down and retype it later, but copy/paste is relatively pain free - Thanks
