I didn't know I'd see the day

The future of WINDOWS is....

Linux?

Klen 07-14-2019 02:38 AM

Except skype, i try to avoid anything done by Microsoft :)
Microsoft is no good as any other titan company.

CurrentlySober 07-14-2019 03:20 AM

"Changes Everything' ??? Nah... Just nah...

A slight exaggeration I'd say...

pimpmaster9000 07-14-2019 03:29 AM

I refuse to use Windows or any PC game original because of mother fucking updates...

pirate windows = no updates
pirate games = no updates

my mother fucking TV is asking for updates
my mother fucking phone is asking for updates
my mother fucking playstation is asking for updates
game clients within my mother fucking PC are asking for updates
mother fucking PC games are asking for updates...

I would like to find the brains behind these updates and beat them to death with a baseball bat...mother fuckers truly deserve it...

We need to boycott Microsoft, they are pure evil, they can never make up for what they have done

While I do agree that MS has made many monopolistic moves and many just stupid ones (from our viewpoint) and I don't like much of what they do.
But if you have been around this since the beginning, you should step back and realize the good they have done for the industry and yourself.
I remember the industry going in many wild tangents where no one standard was being used, everything was proprietary, in something as simple as 'how you operate a program' to 'exchanging data between programs'. So going from one program to the next was a complete new learning task, even if they did the same thing.

Windows was the first to really address that issue, mainly with v3.0 being the first viable version. I was using Deskview for multitasking at that time and continued till about 2000 for specialized dos programs as windows grew on me mainly for/from the web in 94. But Netscape started off as a dos program. Windows did make it better. multitasking in deskview could be a pain getting time slices correct. But at least it had a lean workable interface.

While that is just the tip of the iceberg, I think many take to much for granted now and fail to give credit where it is due. It did advance all platforms and software no matter how you think about it. Even though I may not like some of the means they used to get there. But this is how capitalism plays without proper governess. And few of us were complaining about the behavior at the time, just being happy to get better and faster stuff on the cheap (hacked software). That has not seemed to change even today.

Well, they were fine company while windows xp was still running, but went completely down after it.

Yes, but irony is how microsoft was first trying to make cash on "how they are not spying on user as google", but gave up from that strategy and now doing same shit, even on higher level then google.

I think you will find they have been slow to revise their biz model.
Since windows 8, they have seen the model Apple has had with their phone/ios as the cream of the industry. Even while they had always wish to do something like it, they could not pull it off being dragged down by the reverse compatibility issues.
So, they embarked on a campaign to eventually get there one step at a time while also trying to incorporate the latest in hardware.

So, win10 is that eventual move sometime yet in the future. one step at a time.
I think it is to little to late.
I have been tired of being treated like a newb even more with each new version.
They would like to keep folks out of the admin interfaces because most issues with the OS come from the user tinkering without proper understanding for what they do.
A problem Apple IOS does not have. ( a fully controlled eco-system)

Unless something changes, It would be nearly impossible for MS to be tracking as many people with as many things as Facebook and Google. They do not have the wide web infrastructure in place to do it. Facebook is tracking non-users as well as users all over the web.

Apparently, you may not be aware of most of the methods achieving it or the kind of tracking taking place.

I do not know where you got that tid bit of info but I would like to see it as I would imagine it was planted by the facebook team underhandedly.
(yes they have been caught many times planting misinformation to their benefit)

Microsoft maybe got owned on mobile, but they still have majority of users on desktop. Google and FB control only your browser behaviour while microsoft can track anything. I saw this when there was one system update, where it was prompted "do i want to send my key typing statistic" and bunch of other questions in same domain for "better user experience" . It's like wanting to install malware on your system , with only difference how they ask for your permission. I wont be surprised if they release next version of windows for free with pre-installed tracking.

You are naive to what has been going on in the world of tracking.
Don't feel bad, most are.
Wait till you learn the biometric data that is being collected on you and the judgements they can accurately make from it.
Nothing new... been going on for years now. The uses for it are going up. No rules.

Not sure you understand what the word evil means.

Mind you that I do not shop Wal Mart and have not since about 2003

The interesting thing, as I witnessed 1st hand in one of their test stores a few years ago while I was investigating a interesting story from a friend, was that I seen infrared illumination near the check-out and right on the credit card scanning device (this makes facial recognition highly accurate) and that ties your face to your name and personal info when using a debit or credit card only once.
TIP OF THE ICE BURGH. Not interested in stating all the whats going on in this tech.
Now just imagine for a moment that they can scan the web photos and videos to know your online history in a way you never dreamed of and this info is now a premium commodity to be bought sold and traded.
Using this tech, they can also make very good judgements about your emotions at any given instance and, while I was skeptical many years ago, I have seen it's accuracy zoom to over 80% and that was several years ago. Facebook is actually one of the leaders in this tech for obvious reasons... good info sells. Your complete profile is valuable.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...sers-in-photos

https://slate.com/technology/2019/07...n-ice-bad.html

Know that facebook gets looked the other way by the government because they are helping them ID and locate potential criminals through this tech since their databases are larger than anyone thanks to users uploading and tagging photos and video that they can extract facial recognition data from.

Not all of this is a bad thing, but there are no limits preventing it from being detrimental to your well being used by others who pay a fee or hack the database.

Data never disappears... you just might not be able to see what others are passing judgement on and know that it is factual and not flawed.

Imagine a insurance co raising your rates or not extending service to you because of faulty data you don't know exists.

This is not a tech of tomorrow, this has been happening for years now. The only changes are how many are using it to make judgement about you and the accuracy of it.
