Asteroid worth $10,000 quadrillion dollars

https://www.foxnews.com/science/nasa...-a-billionaire

NASA is eyeing up a nearby asteroid that contains enough gold to make everyone on Earth a billionaire.

Psyche 16 is nestled between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and is made of solid metal.

As well as gold, the mysterious object is loaded with heaps of platinum, iron and nickel.

In total, it's estimated that Psyche's various metals are worth a gargantuan $10,000 quadrillion. That means if we carried it back to Earth, it would destroy commodity prices and cause the world's economy – worth $75.5 trillion – to collapse.

So leave it in space.

Asteroid mining could be a huge business. If we could find a good way to do it, we could potentially have enough materials, water, energy, resources etc to last forever and make it a lot easier to travel to other planets.

if you disrupt the scarcity of physical gold the price will plummet...you would shoot yourself in the foot because most countries have reserves in gold...it would cause chaos...and no real use for gold other than jewelry or unimportant stuff...no benefit to mankind...now if it had helium 3 for example that would be another story...

I was watching a program on TV last night that talked of an Asteroid made up of mainly diamonds. Theres a lot of $ to be made in space. Plus of course we need to leave Earth soon before we destroy it, like we did with Mars ?

These guys in NASA are stupid as wood. If there will be that much gold, it will just become cheaper than iron, so no one will be a billionaire.

Or they say space gold is much better..

The problem is something like that could have a lot of benefits besides making someone money. That much excess gold would allow us to make much better electronics.

Not to mention helping in space travel. Go lb d is used in space ship stuff as well.

it would have minimal benefits in electronics but massive consequences for gold reserves where billions of pension funds and national reserves are stored/pegged...but we would have sweet golden connectors on our tech...but no pension...but sweet sweet bling...

It would not destroy earth's economy, it would just make the gold price low. Gold, by the way, has a plenty of uses, specially in electronics. We would just have a higher quantity of gold to use.

Money, by the way, is nowadays backed by nothing, it could not get more unreal and imaginary as today, so don't worry, your dollars would still be worth the same: the fantastic value that we attribute to it, based on nothing.

The greatest issue could be if the USA brings the asteroid and claims the property of it, instead of distributing it across the whole population of the world, or something like that -like giving it to every country according to the population size-.

But as the most famous goldbug (Schiff) would say, Bitcoin is "nothing" (similar to air or data) :1orglaugh
