bandwith question
Please tell me if my calculation is correct.
Let's say I want to run a TGP website with thumb preview 1. html file size 100 Kb 2. 60 thumbs * 3 Kb (each thumb) = 180 Kb 3. other banners & stuff = 100 Kb --------------------------------------------------------- TOTAL: 380 Kb lets say I have just 1000 unique visitors per day that makes 1000 visitors * 380 Kb = 380 Mb / day = 11,4 Gb (11400 Mb) / month Is this correct? |
yes thats right, but 1000 visitors per day is absolutely nothing, you will need a lot of BW if you want to make the $$$.

I know. This was just to have an idea how much bandwith would I burn.

You shouldn't base it on uniques.
If someone comes to your site 5 times a day, he would request the images/pages 5 times (let's assume he's not caching them all the first visit). So while at 1000 uniques and no movies it might not make a large difference, but if you get a lot more traffic ,calculating your way, the difference could add up. |
