Ever heard of Gary Gilmore, serial killer?

Someone emailed me this info. I don't know if it's real. Since I live in Canada it's unfortunately of no interest to me even if it is 100% real, since getting handguns up here is not a simple process.

Anyway, here's the email I received. Judge for yourself. I uploaded the pic he sent so you can see it.

This was certainly a tragic incident. But history always has a price. This is considered one of the most high profile cases in American history because it reinstated the death penalty after more than a decade of no capital punishment in the U.S., the only time in American history. Very few known murder weapons have ever been available. This pistol was used in both slayings committed by Gilmore and a shot through his own hand while trying to hide the murder weapon in bushes.

A book ?The Executioners Song? also made into a movie by the same name starring Tommy Lee Jones, which won him an Emmy, and Rosanna Arquette.. Playboy magazine did interviews with Gary Gilmore while in Utah State prison. Released in April 1977 issue. Another book written by Gary Gilmore?s brother titled ?A Shot to the Heart? was also released as a movie on HBO October 2001.

Package includes Actual murder weapon, Browning Challenger .22 LR., Video ?The Executioners Song?, Both books ?The Executioners Song? and ?A shot to the Heart?, Newspaper articles, Playboy magazine with Gilmore interview, and FBI lab report and Utah State court letters authenticating the murder weapon.

Wouldn't that have to stay in an evidence locker somewhere?

Guess he wasn't a serial killer. After reading the article it appears he only killed two people. For some reason they had him stuck in the section with mass murderers.

I would have thought so. I replied asking him how he got it. I'll see what he says.

Holy shit. Google to the rescue.

Now maybe this guy knows about this, bought an identical gun and used the same name and is trying to rip people off.

He's taking a risk giving out his phone number and email if he is.

Looks like he already turned down $500,000, so if I offer this guy $5,000 and he offers to take it I guess I know he''s a fraud.

I emailed the guy back. This is what he said:

"This case was 26 years ago, it was a bit of a fluke but they returned it along with nine other guns to the store owner where Gilmore stole it. I then purchased the weapon. I have as I mentioned FBI lab report and Utah attorney affidavit authenticating the weapon."

I showed him the link in google where it says he refused an offer of $500,000.

He replied:

"If your referring to the article in Las Vegas at the gun show. I posted the gun with an opening bid of $500,000 but that auction insisted on a higher reserve than the opening bid. Therefore the bidder was not bound to the opening bid of 500K. It made a great headline for the papers, see how they are. I explained it completely , but the printed it that way. The highest real bid I have has been $40K."
