On a serious note, when you dl their toolbar it shows it right there (not secret info) There must be a site out there where you can look it up without running the stupid bar (Im running Mozilla Pheonix with linux)

kad 05-05-2003 07:45 AM

Not really. When you goto a site (http://www.elsevier.nl in this case) and you have the googlebar installed, the googlebar fires off a request to;

You need to know the correct value of 'ch' to get the PR back. Ive been looking about for the algorithm to generate it for a while, but its not out there (publicly anyway). I even broke out softice and tried to decompile it, but couldn't work it out.

funkmaster 05-05-2003 07:48 AM

foe I am 100% sure there is a way to exploit it, but beside the toolbar thing I am not aware of any other software that does it ...

... to be honest with you I´d love to have a software that could batch check on domains pageranks !! let me know if you find any ...

foe 05-05-2003 07:52 AM

Thats the thing, if I find out how, batch checking of domains will be really easy.

You only care when you want something.

Care to share that idea? I have a few ideas in mind but never had the serious need to develop it.

I researched it and got the same results as kad...

the only solution I could come up with was ugly... a windows PC with the toolbar sitting behind a linux box... when it's browser is redirected to the target site, the linux box sniffs the session and pulls out the line kad specified, and takes the PR from there.

Also, AFAIK, you can't get the PR on a domain which doesn't exist / doesn't repond.

SxSt 05-05-2003 12:53 PM

That´s a good idea. But be carefull with those mass submissions, so that Google don´t ban you. Of course there are several ways to avoid this, so beware.

fnet 05-05-2003 02:54 PM

I can do this, and I can prove it.

Tell me what you're willing to pay for it.

I better nothing unless someone gives me actual money. I can't be bullied; I have no reputation, good or bad, to squander.

It doesn't require cracking the checksum formula.

I run batch lists through and get PR just fine.
