Australia and NZ ban fake news sites killing hate & ignorance online
Excellent move!
4chan.org 8ch.net Voat.co Zerohedge.com Liveleak.com archive.is bitchute.com kiwifarms.net Telstra, Optus and Vodafone block access to 4chan, LiveLeak and other sites after they refuse to take down sickening footage of the Christchurch mosque massacre |
If you are a site that feels you must host footage of mass killings for anyone of any age to see then you don't deserve to be online.
|
"LiveLeak said in a statement it would not carry the video filmed by "the psychopath who murdered 49 innocent people in New Zealand" and continue to remove it whenever it is discovered.
"Whilst we may carry media showing the most terrible of events we don't want to be a vehicle of choice for those who carry these events out. This is a very important distinction for us," it said." |
Here in the United States we have Freedom Of Speech so... I find it hard to believe this would ever happen here.

Putting this in strictly a freedom of speech issue would be a one sided argument.
In the US, you are guaranteed those first 7 bill of rights up and until your right to do so denies others of their same rights under the constitution. The courts normally set the president of these conflicting rights issues, case by case. |
Burn the fake news sites for publishing real news!
We don't trust our citizenry, we must choose for them! Hail corporate! More pillows for your box? Curfew starts at 6:00pm. |

"fake news sites" However do understand they weren't banned for being faked, and the ban is just a temporary measure until all the individuals whom lost their lives have their family and friends contacted, and the sites can be assessed if they are spreading child pornography and/ or hateful ideology. |
Keep accelerating...

The real problem with attacking 'FAKE NEWS' is that there is no true legal definition.
You walk a fine line between freedom of the press and your freedom of information that has not been sanitized by the government itself. Ask Putin. He just declared it was illegal to insult Putin online. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...ws-ban-1195621 So, you don't think we would have a reason to worry in the US ? Look at all the 'grey areas' in the laws being challenged by Trump. Can you see one of the major news organizations in the states being told to give up their sources to remove a charge of being 'FAKE NEWS' ? You are at present, left with a fuzzy rule decided in the courts at present. So the devil is in the details of how you describe in legal terms, what is 'FAKE NEWS'. And What is News and a News organization. I think as a civil matter, they simply have the need to be liable for the content. As well as politicians liable for what they say. They exempt themselves completely. All part of the Powell Memo still coming to fruition. The corporate blueprint for take-over of the government, now over 40 years old. https://dy00k1db5oznd.cloudfront.net...owell-Memo.pdf read more https://billmoyers.com/content/the-p...-corporations/ |

I can see the liberals have got this wrong yet again. The new law targets both sides not just one side. In the UK there are moves to go further to bring the online community in line with laws that govern the offline community.
The problem is the Internet giants are unwilling to police their own sites, so the government is doing it for them. Carry on with your stupid posts now I've made that clear. |

Yet again, you spew disinformation. The sites targeted are alt-right, NOT both sides. The sites targeted are alt-right sites that refused to take down the christ church terrorist video showing the mass murder of innocent people in church. |
