If I don't know the number yes, but if it is Unavailable or Anonymous I do not.

Pennsylvania (and I believe a number of other states) now have a service where you can report telemarketers who call back after you request being removed from their lists. If they call back and you report them the company can be fined some $500 per infraction.

If I say Hi and it takes more than a nanosecond for them to say hi back, its a telemarketer...

usually i have my ringer off on my home phone. and i recently moved a bunch of my shit around, so the answering machine isn't hooked up right now. i figure if it's someone that wants to talk to me that badly, they've got my cell number.

No, I won't pick up. Somebody else in this thread joked about being afraid of the phone...but I am, kind of. It's part of a bigger constellation of phobias. I can't open mail -- husband does it -- or answer the phone if I don't know who it is, and answering the door when I'm not expecting someone to come over makes me nervous.
