Do you use a VPN?

Never had one personally but the thought keeps cropping up that I should.

What about you?

Nobody on GFY uses a VPN :2 cents:

VPN isn't really private you're just letting a different entity track you under the guise of "encrypted privacy". No joke

Don't think that anything you surf on VPN isn't being tracked & indexed by your VPN provider :2 cents:

You must choose "no log" VPNs. Some admittedly log/track your usage, some state they strict nolog policy. Not seen many exposures of dishonest nolog companies so maybe they are truthful? AirVPN has policy: "No monitoring nor logging of your online activities" and they accept BTC :thumbsup
I'm also thinking of getting VPN again

I use a VPN I set up on my own server when using public wifi. I rarely use it at home.

Unfortunately you still have to trust them for not keeping logs, so you can't be 100% sure about that one. A relatively safer solution would be to get a shitty VPS or something anonymously (using btc) and set up a VPN there for yourself.. But you will be limited to one IP/location, not like with real VPN services.

If a VPN is based on EU or US, they will keep logs no matter what. Why? Beacuse if someone made some crap using their service, and they dont have a log pointing to offender, then they will be hold liable for it's actions.

I use IPVanish sometimes. Not so much for privacy but to get access to country limited football streams :)

babeterminal 03-14-2019 03:08 AM

theres a vid on youtube about this, says if you are using one the authorities take a closed look at your systems,

I do almost the same thing, but minus the football :)

I have ipvanish as a reliable, simple to use tool in my toolkit, that enables me to test stuff out from different locations. Sure, from time to time I use it to access content in regions other than the UK, just not football...

As for privacy, I don't really know about that, cause its not really the reason I use it... So YMMV :thumbsup
