Company offers to build 234 mi of wall in 1.4b budget

Company offers to build 234 miles of border wall for $1.4 billion

"A U.S. company is offering to build 234 miles of President Trump's border wall for just $1.4 billion, a fraction of the $8 billion the Trump administration is hoping to use for that project.

Fisher Sand and Gravel Company's President and CEO Tommy Fisher said the government is overpaying and that for $4.31 billion, he can build the wall and incorporate paved roads and border technology plus warranty.

"Our whole point is to break through the government bureaucracy," Fisher told the Washington Examiner. "If they do the small procurements as they are now … that’s not going to cut it."

They also going to eat the ~$100 Billion cost of seizing all the land from current owners? Even under eminent domain, the govt. still has to pay "fair market value."

Oh, and since all those land-owners will sue the govt. to stop the outrageous seizing of land (often that has been held and improved for many many generations), are they going to pay the many billions of dollars in legal fees that the govt. will incur?

Stop me if you think they're including all these costs in their bid....

Environmental impact study?
eminent domain for the land on which to build the roads required to move all the materials?
waste disposal
species relocations
wall defeating counter-measures
anti-tunnel depth and monitoring.........

How did previous Presidents possibly put up fences on this land?

Are you proposing that nothing should deter illegal immigration or only that put up by anyone but Trump?

OMG yeah we definitely don't want to put a wall up. God forbid we stem the flow of illegal Democrats flooding across the border, pumping out babies and jumping on the dole for the rest of their useless, criminal lives.

If the Dems thought Russians might be coming across the southern border, they would erect 50 foot walls armed with M240's every 50 yards.

Another Republican run scam corporation. Figures. Trump would love them because they'd give him a big kick back

I'm not proposing anything. I'm simply pointing out that much of the remaining "land" upon which any new barrier would be erected is not owned by the US government, but is owned by private citizens. Seizing that land would require a LOT of work, years in courts, and a yuge yuge yuge budget (not to mention that it is highly morally questionable and very anti-conservative values to steal - sorry seize by eminent domain - land that has been owned for generations by private US citizens).

(I put "land" in quotes because the Texas-Mexico boarder is the Rio Grande river, which requires a whole host of different technologies to barrier off, and is likely to result in environmental catastrophe for the region...)
