Sounds like they were after the baby elephant and the adults ran them off. Elephants are very protective of their young. They were hunting and saw a prize.

Kill animals to survive. If going to attack you, then try to disable and not kill. If you need food, kill to survive.

Don't get me wrong... I used to hunt when I was a kid growing up in NJ. I joined the Marines and never hunted again. I no longer saw the point when you are hunting a defenseless animal. There is zero sport in it.
