US/China trade surplus increases 17% to world record high of $323 Billion

We have a world record trade surplus with China and NOTHING is being done! WTF?!

Another broken campaign promise

China’s Annual Trade Surplus With U.S. Hits Record Despite Trump’s Tariff Offensive

China’s trade surplus with the U.S. hit a record last year, as robust American demand for Chinese goods undercut the Trump administration’s tariff offensive aimed at narrowing the countries’ lopsided trade gap.

China recorded $323.32 billion in surplus with the U.S. in 2018, representing a 17% jump from the figure in the previous year, according to Chinese government trade data released Monday.

LOL. Every day it's just pure comedy.

onwebcam 01-14-2019 04:32 PM

So what you're saying is he hasn't done enough yet? I agree, he really needs to do A LOT in fixing these imbalances.

Idigmygirls 01-14-2019 04:35 PM

This is complicated, but the increase isn't real.

Because of the tariffs - which were originally slated to increase from 10% to 25% on ALL Chinese imports on January 1 - companies tried to "front run" the tariffs by importing all the goods they could prior to the end of 2018.

It is true that a 90-day postponement of the increase went into effect, so the rate is still 10% until end of February, but by the time that deal was reached, the imports were already in the US or en route.

Look at the data when they come out for first quarter of 2019 and it is very very likely that there will be a massive downshift in the trade surplus. Imports will be at the lowest levels in decades as inventories are already so oversupplied that retailers have literally had to rent trucks to store what was unloaded from the ships toward the end of December (as almost all warehouse capacity was at 100%)

If the truce doesn't hold and tariffs go up to 25%, that is likely to slow the trade imbalance, but in truth, it will hurt the USA to the benefit of China. I could explain how the Chinese have been winning the trade war, but it's too much for this post...

I'll believe the Wall Street Journals opinion thanks :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

And CNBC US trade deficit with China grows to a record and it's likely even worse than the data shows

The stock market lost 6% value in 2018 under Trump and the China trade surplus grew 17% breaking all records.

Why the fuck do people think Trump knows what he's doing? He's been bankrupt four times and now he's fucking up our economy just like he fucked up his own finances.

Tarriffs bleed down to the consumer, increased prices, jobs lost, companies closing & relocating overseas.

Everyone raping money out of the USA has enjoyed a big pay increase this year thanks to Trumps fiscal policies, my own incomes up 20% because of it along with all foreign webmasters.

Thanks Trump!... now get the fuck out

BTW Chinese exports by numbers are down, they're just making more like all of us for what they sell.

The scary thing is Trumps economy and low tax is not making enough to fund your country now, so he can't afford to remove the Chinese tariffs, without rising taxes or slashing costs.. because effectively tariffs are another tax the American consumer is paying.

You do buy a shit load of shit though.

The US spent nearly 1/2 billion on Halloween costumes for dogs. 90% of that probably went to China.

Stop buying new shit all the time, your dog could wear last years costume, he wont care.

One item that has and will increase imports from China is 3D printers. You only have to take a look at YouTube to see the unbelievable growth of this technology. Almost every kid has one and 99.9% of affordable machines are made in China. They average $250-$500 whereas the US versions same size same specs average $1500-$3500.

I said many time's all Trump had to do is what New Zealand did and that's as leader finish every sentence with.. "Buy American, Hire American" and trump was the best leader ever to do that. But nah he's more likely to finish with " Look at what's happing in Sweden "

the "Buy NZ" campaign was so successful New Zealand now is the only country with a free trade agreement with China, cos they can send all the shit they want.. but no one's buying it unless less there's no alternative. It also meant that local business didn't fuck around trying to produce what China can make themselves, they concentrate on what China can't make.. and sell it back to them.

NZ now has a trade surplus with China despite bilateral trade increasing ten fold.

Install pride in your country to buy locally made, produce what China can't make themselves..

pimpmaster9000 01-18-2019 05:22 PM

heres an interesting development...there is news of a supposed 1 trillion deal coming up where china offers to reduce the trade gap to zero in the next 6 years (trumps possible time left as potus)...in the frist year it would do 45 billion and then in the longer term the other 955 billion...this is an extremely interesting development considering chinas last offer was 70 billion over several years...so a whopping 930 billion increase from the first offer...

now either dumbass trump outsmarted 1 billion asians, and I have no doubt some will believe this, or something is up...

now the first clue we have in the incredible 2nd offer that rose by 1200% and is well beyond what trump was really expecting...all of a sudden a 0 trade deficit...before an election year :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

the second clue is in the absurdity of the whole concept...you can not create 1 trillion in trade just out of thin air...the global economy is like a jenga tower where US pieces are all over the place...you can not take out so many bricks without seriously destabilizing others...it is a story for little children...even if they actually planned on spending 1 trillion, this 1 trillion means goods in that amount will not be purchased from other US buyers of goods...in turn these buyers will buy less US goods because they sold less goods...

it is a scam...they reached a deal for trump to score a pre election victory and will probably give like 20 billion...trump will report it as 200 billion...the market will roll with it and bubble...then dumbass gets re-elected...pooty and xi laugh their ass off...the trade deal is a scam of course and you are all suckers LOL

The Chinese lie, hack and steal our intellectual property. You can't trust any agreement with China dealing with trade they always cheat. They will secretly ship to other countries and have those countries ship to America. Trump would be fine with this because it would give him a political win and he would think nobody would know.

You'll know if it was a Trump effect if any deals are exclusively for America and not other countries. If not, its just Xi doing what he said he was going to do all along, and Trump taking the glory for it. "Beware The Bearers Of False Gifts" ;)

Beijing Makes Trump $1 Trillion Offer To Seal China Trade Deal; Dow Jones Rises

Beijing is reportedly promising the moon to reach a China trade deal with President Trump. A new Bloomberg News report says China has offered to buy more than $1 trillion in additional imports over six years, shrinking its $323 billion trade surplus with the U.S. to zero by 2024. While investors are increasingly confident that a China trade deal will happen, the news of a Chinese buying spree added a little hot sauce to the Dow Jones and broader stock market rally on Friday.

China offers 6-year import boost in trade talks with US: Sources

China offered U.S. trade negotiators a six-year boost in imports, officials familiar with the matter tell CNBC.

China pegged its proposal to buy more U.S. goods through 2024 to President Donald Trump's hopes of being re-elected to a second term in 2020, the sources told CNBC.

Chinese officials made the offer during negotiations in Beijing earlier in January, Bloomberg News reported.

I want trump to win because he is toxic for the global position of the USA and the USA is toxic to the further development of humanity because its #1 export is war...I have no problem with trump winning anything but I still think he is a moron...

the 1trillion increase is a story for paul markham and people who did not finish school...you can print 1 trillion $ but you can not create 1 trillion in NEW buyers...what you can do is rearrange and not buy things from US allies and trading partners and give the red hats something to cheer about...china will buy more from the USA, but the UK/mexico/south korea/japan wont because they are now "light" 1 trillion...this is just how reality works...

its not like china will buy extra shit it does not need and just stock pile it...this is what the red hats will think is going on....natural demand for the exact amount of foreign goods is what it is...no new buyers were created...

lets look at the numbers...china imports 130 billion of US goods and exports 500 billion to the USA...by offering to reduce the gap to 0 china is practically giving up ALL its profit on the exports to the USA...you MUST look at the other sides math...their first offer was 70 billion over a few years and it was naturally a low ball but nevertheless a more realistic projection of what they can really do...the second offer is a whopping 1300% higher :error:error:error the second offer is WELL above anything anybody expected...needless to say I am extremely suspicious :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

now that north korea has denuked, oh wait...that was a lie...now that the wall is up...oh wait...now that the economy is booming. oh wait...IRL trump needs a win and china is acting very very suspicious indeed...

Are you actually trying to say China buying a trillion dollar of US goods is bad? or it doesn't matter? So this is a bad thing for the US economy? And as if China's needs are on a fixed basis.
