What are reasonable monthly salaries in Poland?

With the caveats

I. Speaks English 4/5 where 5 is fluent

a. University educated
b. Krakow or such, not Warsaw
c. Has a basic to medium understanding of social media and basic web

Any ideas? Hard to employ people there? And don't come at me with a link to some stupid site - I'm asking if you actually know. Thanks.

Like 200 euro a month maybe.
Depends on how many peirogis and kielbasa you can eat I suppose.

sirkonstantine 01-11-2019 07:34 PM

Lived in Krakow for 10 months.

I'd say 4,000 PLN/month would be the minimum. If the person is a recent Uni grad with 0 experience, I'd start him or her at 4,000 PLN and it'll be OK.

Know that, at this rate, they're gonna leave your company in 1 or 2 years for a better position.

Take this with a grain of salt since I haven't been to Krakow in like 3 years and my lifestyle in Krakow was a lot different than the average Pole.

Thanks very much - so it really does mirror what the web sites say. I appreciate the information.

That is a typical western, ignorant way of thinking about other countries. That people of Central and Eastern Europe still use black-white tvs, and they are far from civilization... You would be surprised... every kid has a smartphone and whatever one may want.
Depending on the skill set people in such country as Poland can earn even $3k-$5k a month and more, for example medical doctors/dentists with own practice. Decent car mechanic can earn $1,5k-$2k even working as an employee for someone else. Business owners earn much more. Sure, in some smaller towns people who have no particular skills, doing simplest jobs earn way less, but it’s still at least twice more than you mentioned, $400 + they can get now benefits if they have kids, $140 per kid a month. We are talking here about 40 hours per week.

Brno is full of Italians, Spanish, Portuguese etc that found better paying jobs here than in their home countries. So much about cheap labor in central Europe.

I just happen to like Krakow, and I need a European location. Rents are decent, but I'm still in the early stages. This just research. Poland is a great country, no need to be offended.

Are you planning a move?

for Krakow min is 4k / 4.5k per month

Maybe, but 4,000 PLN = about $1,000 USD. A month. Or about $250 a week.

Shit, I spend more than that on sushi here in New York City. :D

who cares ? u earn less, u spend less (rent, services).
for some strange reasons Americans have no savings, while many Poles build houses with cash...
massage with handjob is 30 usd in Krakow in massage parlor, how much that would be in New York ? 150 usd ?
also, for 500 usd/ month u rent some apartment in Krakow near/in center, while in New York ? will u even get shared place in room in a center for this money ?

If you look for office try like a Rzeszow or Tarnow. you will probably pay 50% of what in Krakow to the airport and the motorway is 1 hour by car.
In Krakow, sometimes 1 hour is a traffic jam to the airport.
Rzeszow have own airport with a 15 min from city center you are in and direct connection to US too. :)

I hire people in Wroclaw. To live comfortably, middle-class in Wroclaw/Krakow/Any other larger city, you need at least 3,5-4k pln for the bare essentials to live alone with no roommates/gf/etc, and 5-6 or so to live comfortably. This is "after tax". If your only skills are english and basiic understanding of websites, then I could hire people with your skill set for 2-2,5k pln (take home) all day long. We have huge employment costs here - taxes and mandatory insurances are almost second salary so this actually costs me much more then this, but it is what it is. There are alot of people with this skill set in Poland. It is enough you hop on any online game like Counterstrike and you will find hundreds of 20 year olds that speak fluent english and know IT/Web stuff inside out. IBM has HQ in this city. They pay new hires 2100 PLN take home...

Of course - If we're talking about skilled labour, like programmers and things like this - the salaries are *substancially* higher, even 6-7x that take home pay + company car, gym memberships, etc, etc. It is possible to make alot of money here and live very comfortably, but not if you don't do some kind of specialized work. You might consider the fact that you speak another non-english language fluently as a skill and use that - some company might need representative for your country.

This is all very useful, thank you very much, just so we're clear, I am looking to hire this person, I am not this person.

My personal qualifications are

Speaks English 2/5 where 5 is fluent unless drunk, when it is 6/5
World Lazy Competition 2 times gold medal winner, one silver (I lost in 2018 to whoever moderates GFY)
There are some universities that will not throw me off campus on sight
I have little to no understanding of social media or web, I cannot even win an argument against Paul Markham

So you can see why I hire people. If it was just me, I would be living in an unmarked van in the woods near the Canadian border, similar to 35% of the posters here. I'm hiring.

In this case if you are hiring him as freelancer, then many other things come into play. He would have to pay taxes somehow/be hired somehow otherwise he is working under the table. There is no way to pay him except electronically so he will have problem sooner or later. If he registers a company then he has additional costs as well. However, as I said - if you post up these requirements on OLX.pl then you can hire people with this skill set all day long for 2-2,5k takehome + whatever additional costs they might have to run as freelancer.
