Google Search Console - Good or Bad?

I am always struggling between two opposing thoughts on Google Search Console (formerly Webmaster Tools)

Sometimes I think it's good to have sites added there because I get warnings about issues.

Other times I think it's band to have sites there because it gives Google too much information.

Certainly with the threat of Google Chrome blocking ads on sites that don't comply with the Better Ads Standards https://betterads.com I am leaning towards it being more positive to be open with Google than not.

What are others thoughts on this issue?

i have few sites in same niche, so i dont add them in gwt under single google account.

i have noticed this, if you feed google , a sitemap with 5 million urls in it, google wont crawl all of it.
so there is no point in adding sitemap in GWT.

only thing i like about google, is instant indexing new contents., bu telling it to fetch the url and index all direct links.

just make your site easier to crawl, nowadays google even processes js, so there is no point in adding site in GWT unless, you want to tell google that your specific subdominan is targeting users from specific country.

Ever since we followed all the suggestions and fixed errors, traffic has been up. Sales too. I think it works

I use it simply because I need to disavow links from time to time. Competitors often try to sabotage me and I've also run into a few issues where webmasters still have their old unused domains pointing to my server(s) IP's resulting in irrelevant backlinks. Always good to disavow those.

Yes, I'm convinced, it's going to take a long time but I might get the rest of my sites into the system so to speak.

I keep all my sites in the same account. The good sites do well. The shitty sites don't.

Thanks. That's to be expected.

The new version sucks imo..
In the old one it was easy to see which position you ranked which keyword for and you could just click it to open a google search for that term..

that was the only thing I was using search console for so I'm a bit disappointed :-p

Let me state this loud and clear:

Google does NOT monitor its properties to find out of you are hacking their SEO. It is against their TOS, Privacy Policy and more. It would fuck them in the ass to do so because everyone who stop using their tools and avoid them like the plague.

I've had many people plead with me not to talk to them via Gmail, make an SEO plan in Google Sheets, etc... Google DOES NOT MONITOR their properties in order to find SEO cheaters. They don't and never will.

Carry on.

I know that, I've said as much in threads previously, I just don't like giving data away that I don't have to. :2 cents:

google doesn't need you to submit your site to gwt to get any info about it, they can get it without that anyway.

Yeah that's pretty much true, they know a lot.
