CHUMPS shutdown stops new beer production !!!!!

Consider this your heads-up, beer enthusiasts.

Among the federal agencies hit by the shutdown is the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), which regulates the alcohol beverage industry.
Breweries have to apply for a permit and receive approval from the TTB before they can begin operations.
Those processes have been put on hold, explained Paul Gatza, Director of the Brewers Association, a non-profit trade association. "So it could delay some brewery openings once the shutdown is lifted."
Consumers could also feel the effects, Gatza said. Breweries must get new beers approved through the TTB before they can make them available to the public.
"If the shutdown goes on for an extended time," Gatza said, "beer drinkers won't see much in the way of innovative new brands on the shelves where they buy beer." :Oh crap

#thanks chump

There are 7,000 breweries in the US, I am pretty sure we will survive.

I am willing to bet most of the liberal brewery owners around here would be glad to cut back on the number of new breweries opening around here.

TTB has to approve labels, but if you are not canning or bottling a new beer you have nothing to worry about.

There are indeed too many breweries . . .

breweries in California don't even need TTB for labels on beer that they are only selling in California (one of the only good things Brown did). Not sure what states may have similar laws.

#mydemise hahaha

it affects:

new brewery applications
new labels for beers (depending where you are located and where you want to sell)
it does eliminate support for breweries that have questions about certain laws
