Canada is stupid

or should I say our POLITICAL SYSTEM is stupid?

Paul Martin

Sheila Copps

John Manley

Dear America,

See those three names above? They belong to the same political party.

They are currently arguing over who will assume the throne of our leader, and will become the next Prime Minister.

They are not elected by anyone.

We have no choice who leads us directly. We have no real democracy. Our country is so split among social and geographic lines that it has become impossible to have any other party but this party.

Doesnt this sound familiar to you? How do you suggest we fix this?

Dildozer 05-03-2003 01:29 PM

a putsch

well the party is elected, not the man.

And if Quebec didn't have the fuckin Bloc, it'd be easier to get another party elected. It's all quebec's fault as usual

[Labret] 05-03-2003 01:29 PM

You think we have a choice?

What it boils down to for us is...

"What rich old white christian do we want to vote for?"

The only thing seperating them is their flavor of Jesus worship.

Democracy. You have no democracy in a land of uneducated sheep.

and the west. dont forget the Alliance.

hershie 05-03-2003 01:30 PM

I have a solution; the west can separate since they never vote for the party in power and their voice is never represented.

Easton 05-03-2003 01:30 PM

i love Montreal... :thumbsup

Oh yeah great!
And why not separate Quebec as well? And colapse the whole fuckin country? Now that would be great wouldn't it? Having our dollar go the same way as the iraqi dinnar

Well, let's lay the blame where it really belongs

1. Quebec

2. Western Canada - Preston Manning

They wanted to split off the right wing after mulrouney's GST clusterfuck.

Neither the Alliance or the BQ represent Canada. They only serve regional interests.

Solution = dissolve the regional parties and join back up with the PC party again, or face losing every election to some ignorant, moronic assclown.

I was born and raised in Quebec and was there for the 76 separation vote...and since moving out here it seems to me that BC has more economic ties to Asia and the US then east to Ottawa... Its maybe getting to be a facade of a union if one region's votes are meaningless because of demographics elsewhere...and other regions have grown in other directions.

Martin is really a PC. He's a capitalist and he is worth a fucking fortune from his shipping business.

He just wants to play on the winning team, his ass ain't no liberal.

Yet another francophone ratpack assclown prime minister that is going to fuck this country in the ass without courtesy lube, just like a true dirty frenchman would.

Let's try this - name two prime ministers of Canada who were not born in Quebec, or did not go to University there and join the ratpack?

martin helped balance the budget and set up our economy to be as strong as it is today. he fixed the mess of the 80's and early 90's.

MrPopup 05-03-2003 01:53 PM

It doesn't take a genius to slash provincial transfers and "balance the budget" by crippling our healthcare system.

Why is the GST still in place? Eliminating it was promised countless times.

if you don't have it, don't spend it.

sales taxes should be dropped completely. increase income tax to offset the loss of sales taxes.

Actually, no. We had a change of party at the executive office just two years ago and before that just two elections before that.

Democracies in North America and Europe give us the choice between tweedle dee and tweedle dum: sanitized candidates approved by the mass media and the lobby groups. In other words, you end up with a leader who is a mere figurehead, and your life doesn't change much no matter who pretends to rule the farcical regime.

vive le quebec libre :)

you know why quebec is always against everything in Canada ?
we're not in the fucking constitution, we have been fucked too many times by Canada, learn your history...
lets broke that stupid country and get with regional power, and USD.

lawked 05-03-2003 11:58 PM

Cut the income taxes. Cut the bullshit. Make sales taxes standardized across the country, 15% of everything sold
in Canada would make a lot of wealth be spread around.

People would have more money to spend, you wouldn't have
to pay an accountant to fuck around with numbers on paper,
and the economy would rock on. The government would probably
make more money.

They have a system in place that makes you not want to
over achieve. IF you do, you pay out more... It's funny how
some raises you get, will throw you in another tax bracket and you'll end up making less.

***
Throw some tariffs on the energy we export, to offset the softwood tariffs...

***
The fact of the matter is, people are leaving Canada daily
to live in the States because of the taxes...

***
It's pretty sad when they cap your student loans, and charge
you 10% interest on them... meanwhile assfucking you with
taxes, stuffed hospitals, and traffic problems in Calgary.

***
I've seen old women sitting in the Emergency room because
there were no beds... I wish I was there when a politician rolled right thru the doors.

That's right 1980; no wonder I remember it - I was 4 yrs. older then in 1976.

What you describe is something structural marxists use to define our democracy in its role in a capitalist system - in the final analysis, democracy is always a tool to perpetuate and legitimize a capitalist system .
