Grapesoda: did I just see your rescue on TV?

Is Eddie an English Mastiff? If so, CBS News just showed your rescue.

Bladewire 11-20-2018 12:22 PM

Yes you did that is Brian & Eddie's rescue. You see them at 8:54 in the video below.

He is homeless now

His house burned down with almost all of his equipment

Here's the GoFundMe for GFYer Grapesoda

The chopper was heading back for fuel when they made the detour, I guess.

wehateporn 11-20-2018 01:59 PM

Presenter Del Bigtree says at the start of this video he's just lost his house too, he appears to be coping surprisingly well. At 1h10s he goes to take a look at the remains.

CaptainHowdy 11-20-2018 02:03 PM

That's a wild video. Got a little chuckle out of watching you lift Eddie up into the back of the chopper. Reminds me of my dog. Big old tubby who gets his front up but refuses to do his back without help.

Thank goodness there was little looting during this disaster.

Looting: Talk about adding insult to injury...

crockett 11-23-2018 08:18 AM

Some dude was on the radio yesterday that stayed through the fire, him and his neighbors because the road was blocked by flames before they had the chance to get out. This was a rural area so they had space between their houses and were able to cut out fire blocks with their tractors to save their houses.

Anyway, the dude said he went out to the road by his house and found multiple cars just stopped in the street blocking the road and he ended up rescuing 12 dogs that people left in the abandoned cars.

Makes you wonder what happened to the people. I can only assume they must have been evac'd by police or firemen or something for so many of them to leave their dogs like that. I couldn't imagine anyone would attempt to make a run for it and just leave the dogs in the cars like that.

yeah I saw parked cars everywhere... no dogs but then I couldn't get back for 5 days. if the copter missed us I would have went down the south side of the hill WITH my dog on foot.
I made a spiritual commitment to care for that animal when I took possession of him. some people are just of low quality. in fact you can see that very openly on GFY :2 cents:
