Newegg got fucked recently !!!

Anyone that has made an online purchase from NewEgg between- Aug 13, 2018 and Sept 19, 2018 should check their CC accounts. I just got a letter from them saying they had been hacked.

Funny thing is my bank discovered this weeks ago because i had some unauthorized activity on my account. Some twat had charged $5000 on my card and it was put on hold. I know i wouldn't be liable for the charge, but this shit is one reason CC charges are so high. The other is banks are greedy fucks.

The fucking thing is why didn't NewEgg lets it's customers know sooner ? Why wait, they knew about the hack on Sept 18, 2018 and i just go a letter today 62 fucking days later.......:321GFY

They’ll blame it on a new employee who left a door open. They’ll never admit how it was done. Surprised the media hasn’t picked it up yet.

Too many hacks this year. Companies used to hire hackers to check their systems. I’d rather spend a grand a week on a hacker than lose twenty grand in sales by untrusting customers.

Either the coders are screwing up and leaving holes or software is distributed without enough testing.

This will guarantee that i don't order from them again. If they cannot secure their own data base then fuck them. I keep all sensitive data on a separate drive which i can disconnect when i am not using it. Never had a single issue in over 25 years doing this.

What really pisses me off beside the fact it took them 60+ days to let me know this even happened is the two page letter that sets out what to do if my identity is stolen. Do this do that, tons and tons of shit you need to do because they cannot fucking look after data. I am writing back to them tomorrow to let them know the first thing i am going to do if this happens is sue them for negligence or whatever my attorneys can come up with!

I used them during that time but I check my cards daily for activity. I think I paid with Paypal actually if I remember right and maybe that is why they didn't get my info.

It's sad that no place is safe from hackers :(
