Fox News files amicus brief on behalf of CNN’s Acosta — and calls out ‘antagonistic’ Trump

Fox News on Wednesday announced that it would be filing an amicus brief on behalf of CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who recently had his White House press pass rescinded by the Trump administration.

“Fox News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential,” the network announced. “Secret Service passes for White House journalists should never be weaponized.”

The network then called out the “antagonistic tone by both the president and the media” during recent press conferences, while reiterating that it supports “a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.”

The White House stripped Acosta of his press pass after a testy exchange with the president. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also drew criticism for promoting a doctored video that made it look like Acosta had been physically aggressive with a White House intern.

I'm an American Tax payer, I pay more tax in the USA than I do in Australia. While I don't have the right to vote in the USA, I think I do have the right to bitch at a Government I'm helping to fund.

I read on CNN today they still have 50 reporters with white house press credentials. I don't think there should be a panic by the press that they will lose access to white house press conferences.

The First Amendment prohibits denial of a press pass "arbitrarily or for less than compelling reasons.” Also Trump throwing a hissy fit and revoking Acosta's credentials violates the Administrative Procedure Act, which governs how federal agencies issue regulations and it enforces the Constitutions due process clause.

I think how Acosta behaves in the white house deserves a time out. There are 30 plus questions asked during each news conference by all kinds of journalists. Funny how the there is only a problem with one reporter.cnn has 50 other reporters that can ask same questions Acosta would.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a video (that she later admitted was doctored) trying to smear Acosta, to punish him.

Trump thinks he can break the law and punish Acosta because Trump thinks he's a badass dictator king of the world.

They're always too busy expressing their fake outrage for ratings and to appeal to the fringe. If it wasn't for fake outrage, they'red be no outrage at all. After all, what should Democrats worry about? Things voters care about?? That's absurd.

For example, I am sure that Anderson Cooper has WH press credentials. However, he is based out out of NY (I believe). I would guess all of their main anchors have such press credentials. However, this is not about Jim Acosta. This is about Trump going to war with CNN. They can put someone else in and what's going happen? If they ask a question they will be called stupid or racist? Or should they just sit in the back of the room and not ask questions.

Acosta was not inappropriate. He is a reporter who deserves answers to his very important questions to Trump, which Trump has endlessly refused to answer or has tried to deflect. Then even worse, they tried to say he "laid his hands on an intern" as if he grabbed her tits or something.

CNN has every right to sue Trump. Trump is ignoring the 1st and 4th amendments, and came this close to slandering Acosta. And as you now know, Fox News is actually on the side of CNN. If Trump is allowed to get away with this, he can bar anyone he wants to from the WH news room, leaving only those who report exactly what Trump wants reported. Do you not see the problem here?
